This is fvcking awesome laptop. Its looks really cool and works just as well. I got it around the same price about 6 months ago and people still think its brand new

I am a little bummed that I picked up the 600M, I think I would have been happier with one of the Latitude C or D series.

HTe only disadvantage that I can think of in the C400 is that the cdrom is external and so you need a cable to attach it. Otehr than that, its tooooo cool

I'd rather wait around for a deal on the 300m . . . price is similar (before coupons), but it comes with a 1.2 GHz Centrino processor. Granted, it doesn't look as spiffy as the C400.

The only thing I really like about the Latitude is that they have the alloy casing that the 300M/500M/600M do not have.

The C series prices may go lower soon, as this series is being discontinued. The new D series is taking it's place. Note: The D series require a different docking station.

I've had a C400 for over a year now and love it. It's arguably Dell's best built laptop, and it's plenty fast for most things people do on the go (if you want serious gaming though, this is not your machine). The screen quality is great, despite what Gunbuster says (he's probably one of the people that think that every laptop needs a 15 inch or larger screen to be any good).

I have seen truly great sony picture book and toshiba screens, the c400 does not even come close.

1: Its 1024x768
2: Vewing angle is garbage
3: The screen is blotchy when seen from an angle
4: The c400 is realy quite large for a single spindle laptop and rounded in the wrong places (not sexy or cool)
5: The case plastic (most of the case) is not very sturdy

The only plastic part is the top cover of the bottom with the touchpad and the inside screen bezel, the bottom of the laptop and top of the laptop are all metal. It definitely is Dell's sturdiest best built laptop.

I' ve used one these and they are beautiful laptops. I don't understand how you can have higher resolutions on a 12.1" screen. The laptop is perfect for those of us who just want to travel light, and have a solidly built nice looking laptop.

I have purchased a few of the C400 for customers who want thin/light laptops and the screen has seemed fine as far as I am concerned. The units are well built with the Alloy casing. Good deal for the money..
