GTX 980 will get a price reduction to $499 and GTX 970 to $329.
Something tells me these 2 cards will drop even further.,sooner than later
GTX 980 will get a price reduction to $499 and GTX 970 to $329.
970's MSRP is already $329, so it looks like that isn't getting a drop. The 980 is dropping $50 from launch price. 980 Ti will cost 30% more than the 980, wonder if it will be able to match 30% more performance?
650USD for cut down card is still overpriced.Remember 980TI is not full GM 200.Reposting since were already on a new page and posts get buried easily:
It is 100% confirmed guys. GTX 980Ti have a MSRP at $649!!!
Benchlife posted NDA information which ends June 1st.
GTX 980 will get a price reduction to $499 and GTX 970 to $329.
*HAPPY DANCE*

And when will that be? AMD is taking all eternity whilst they slowly lose their market share. At this point I don't even know anymore if AMD can get the ball rolling.I see further price drops for Nvidia's entire lineup when AMD finally gets the ball rolling.
I see further price drops for Nvidia's entire lineup when AMD finally gets the ball rolling. Even if most of AMD's cards are rebrands, products with new names and fresh impressions and new prices will have an affect on the market. I see the $980 dropping to $450, the $970 dropping to $300, and the 980 TI dropping to $600 by mid-August.
GM204 is the best engineered chip on 28nm in perf/w and perf/mm2 and nothing is going to change that but it can't stay $100 more expensive than an updated (new) Hawaii card with a slightly improved TDP, noticeably improved thermals, and only 5-7% slower.

If the 390x does end up being $800 I'm probably a buyer for the 980ti as I've always been a price for performance shopper. I don't see amd selling lower this time around as they need to make profit. Then again I also waited a few months before getting my current card. Come to think of it, even $650 is a bit much than what I'm willing to spend for a high end card.
I'm in a similar position. My PC is 4-5 years old and I've been wanting to upgrade but I don't play as many PC games as I used to. Although I do play triple A titles.I have to wait until Skylake is available anyway. Which means August. Im not building my new gamer PC until Skylake motherboards and CPUs are ready.
Which means I have to wait but I get to watch both AMD and Nvidia`s cards go at each other before deciding.
I dont know man.
GTX 980Ti selling for $649 will sell like hotcakes if the rumored price of $850 for Radeon Fury is true. On top of that the Fiji XT may even have a TDP of 350W vs 980Ti`s 235W.
AMD got old rebrands and and a premium expensive card. Nvidia have two value cards (970 and 980Ti) based on a much more efficient architecture and the performance of 980Ti may only be 10% ish below Fury at a more cheaper price. Nvidia have brand recognition and maybe price and architecture in their advantage.
I dont think Nvidia will reduce price at all for 980Ti until probably atleast very late 2015 or early 2016. By then its only months and we have Pascal.
Kepler was different than today`s situation . AMD had Nvidia beat in price/performance. This time they are looking to be very similar in price but efficiency could be an advantage for Nvidia. It depends on how the HBM will play out
Against the competition, yes.
I was all set to get a new Ti, but after finishing V and currently going through Witcher III, why bother? For some tessellated hair and a slight slight increase in foilage draw distance? There is nothing coming out definite this year AAA wise anyway. No new Fallout, no new Elder Scrolls, no new Mass Effect, Just Cause 3 and the new Deus Ex are up in the air (and I doubt they will be that heavy anyway), so why should I spend anything? New CoD? HA.
ummm $50 price drop, I might probably consider the GTX 980.
