You can either purchase NOW with the credit card # and activate the card right away (given that you have already been approved instantly), or you can wait until you receive the card and activate then, and then make your purchases when you physically have the card in hand. There is nothing on the minimum that you have to spend on your first purchase to get the $150 credit. Unless the paperwork that comes with the card in the mail says so, I don't think there is a minimum that you need to spend to get the $150 credit, right?

wow you typed out all that? who cares really if you have to spend 1 or 150 to get that free $150? this card comes with 0% for a year, so you will most likely spend at least $150 with this card within a yr.

Call them, ask if you can change (e.g. lower) the credit limits on your other cards and use it for this account. It works sometimes...YMMV of course.

Instantly Approved. Can I take this CC number they gave me and go by that Athlon FX 55 deal?

Nope, you gotta wait until the card arrives in the mail.

Debated about this for a long time, and finally decided to go for it. Went through right away.

Guess we'll all be talking about this in a few weeks / months from now, either a lot of happy or a lot of sad folks!

So does that mean if I just pay the minimum due for first 12 months I wouldn't get charge interest? That makes this deal even hotter. This is my 2nd chase card and I got it today! Other one being chase reward card.

Yep, just pay the minimum and there won't be any interest.

Thanks, signed up, got the card, bought some christmas gifts, but I can't register on the http://www.sonyrewards.com/sonycard site to view my account status. Some nonsense about the email address not matching, even after I copy/paste it into the second field. I called the phone number presented after 3 failure attempts, and got a real live person speaking real Aamerican english with zero button presses and zero wait. Big thumbs up on their support line. The support guy couldn't make it work, so I have to wait for corporate to respond to the problem...

Anyone else have trouble registering their sonycard account for online account access?

For some reason (student loans probably), I am not getting instantly approved for any credit cards these days. If I got the, "you'll get a response in 30 days" business, does this mean I basically didn't get it? I'm getting PO-ed at the number of failed attempts to get a new CC these days.

I already have 3 CC's. Only 2 of which I use often. I went ahead and got in on this deal and just plan on using it to get the $150 credit. Should I call and cancel the card afterwards or just keep cutting them up as they come in? I don't mind losing a few pts off my credit, but I don't want to hurt it too badly.

it means a real person will look at your apps, instead of computer. Also, if you are trying to get too many CC within short period of time, they will deny you because 'too many inquiries' on your credit report. you need to learn how this game is played and beat them at their own game.

Not necessary, I got that response as well when I apply for the card but still receive it in the mail.
However, if you have been denied for CC in the last 6 months, or having new cards within couple months, or have huge debt (student loan counts) your chance of getting new CC goes down. See What determines FICO score and other things lender consider for details.

How long after signing up do you get your card in the mail?
How long after the first purchase before you get that bonus $150?

Thanks.

My last reply was 12/4, and I got this card early last week (Monday or Tuesday, I don't remember exactly). So... approximately 10 days (which included a weekend of course).

I signed up on Dec. 4 also and I still haven't gotten my card yet. Maybe this Monday.
