Hmm, it said they would let me know about the status of my application within 30 days. Does that mean they didn't instantly approve me and they're going to mail me a rejection letter?

I'm not sure what frankgomez was quoting, but it looks to me like you make any purchase and get a credit for $150 on the card.

This is exactly what I wanted to know, but completely unexpected. For once, you arent bashed for already being a customer.

You can spend $1 anywhere and get the $150 after a couple months. You don't have to spend $150.

There is probably more fine print saying that they wont cut you a credit check for 149 if you only spend 1 dollar. None the less, if they give my account a 150 dollar credit, its not that hard to spend the 150.

Don't be so full of yourself. I have a high school kid and a college student, neither of which have any credit history or annual income into the five figures, who receive credit acrd offers in the mail at least three times a week. Burying you in credit cards is the American way.

You make any purchase anywhere for any amount and they credit your account $150. I've done this deal many times with the Sony card and have always received the statement credit. Sometimes it takes longer than others but they've always paid in the end.

Well... I put in my information and was told I'd be notified in writing of whether or not I was accepted in the next 30 days. So I guess that means I wasn't approved? Haha... being a graduate student sucks!

Getting "offers" from credit cards is easy. Getting "approved" for a lower rate/higher limit/more benefits credit cards is harder. Why don't you use your kid's information to apply for this Sony card and see if you get instant approval.

21 year old college kid here, and I got instant approval with $5000 credit limit.

So it sounds like I could do this then:

Apply for and get the card. Buy something. Since it's 0% financing, pay the minimum monthly payment each month. After two-three months, I'll get a $150 credit on the bill.

Sounds like a good way to score some motorcycle overpants. I've been holding off on buying them, but if I can get them for essentially free with little out of pocket expense, that's just great. The less money I have to move out of my ING account, the better.

OK I just got approved.... but as soon as I was approved it said something like "Don't forget to use your card at SonyStyle.com to receive your credit..." or something like that.

Can I use this card anywhere or only @ sonystyle?

how am I full of myself? Most credit card apps ask for 4 major things, time at current address, and job, income, and credit score. I was just simply stating that I have 2 red flags out of the 4 biggies, but still got approved for over 5k, so I guess the time at current address and job don't weight as much as income and credit score. I wasn't bragging or anything, but if you don't have that kind of income or credit score, you might look at that as bragging, but I certainly wasn't, good luck with your and your sons apps.
