I doubt they would ask that, but that would hurt your credit score much more than keeping the card open and throwing it in a drawer if you dont want to use it

How much would it hurt my CC score? We talkin 5 pts or like 50 pts? I have good history anyway so not like I'm that worried. I just already have a few open CC accts that I don't use so that's just more cards for me to shred and more fraud for me to worry about.

$150 credit added to the card's account, so it is good for anything. It will just show up on your monthly bill as a (-)negative balance after it is applied.

The number of people here who went after the deal without reading the fine print is astounding. I wouldn't be surprised if their phone guys started answering the phone with "RTFM FIRST".

You can use the e-number supplied only in the Sony Store. The credit will be applied slightly differently (on a points basis) - but the simple version is that if you spend 150 ANYWHERE you would have gotten the credit.

I am/was in for two, made my purchase in late december (paid off my auto-insurance actually) and my account was credited on 1/30. Note that this was AFTER I received my first statement. Of course - if you read everything before you click accept you'll see that the credit may take up to 12 weeks to post to your account.

The only thing I haven't done yet is cancel the cards. Seeing as how the interest rate is free for the first year, I don't think I'm going to for a while yet.

I don't see anything in the fine print about the purchase needing to be $150 or greater, it just says first purchase.

"Think Bigger with Sony Card. Get instant approval and a $150 card credit after your first Sony Card purchase!"

and

"Offer subject to credit approval. Card credit will be applied to your Sony Card account 8-12 weeks after your first purchase. Offer expires January 4, 2007. First purchase must be made by March 31,2007."

Oh the irony. I got the card to use on a Vaio notebook, but when they changed the style of the FE series, I instead bought a Thinkpad. So Sony is helping me buy a Lenovo notebook.

I applied for and got my card account on January 9th. I promptly bought a PSP that I would have never sprung for withouth this deal. The PSP is totally cool and my $150 credit appeared on my account January 23rd. A $50 PSP = WOOT!

Finally got my $150 credit on this billing cycle. I applied in Dec, made a charge in Jan, paid the first statement off, then I got the credit in this Feb billing.
