Looks like a desperate effort to squeeze out performance by Nvidia since they are losing the race to ATI. I remember the days when Nvidia would release a new driver that was suppose to increase performance two folds one day before ATI or Matrox announce their new chip.

They make good chips but man are those guy dirty.

What is all of this "Beta" talk? The Detonator drivers are always a work in progress. I consider them all to be beta. The WDM Qualified drivers have given me issues at times, so I don't look at these any differently.

I installed them on XP. Work fine. The NVRotate is a neat little feature, if one can really find a use for it. It's a nice practical joke to play on a friend who is unaware...just set their drivers to display the screen 90 degrees to the right or left, or 180 degrees (upside down) to freak them out...heheh.

Nice comparison . . . the conclusion:

Well, aside from 3DMark 2001SE the 40.41 drivers performed on par with, or slightly below, the 28.32 drivers. But for many people a higher 3DMark score is good enough, and a 11% gain is definitely impressive. Overall the new Detonator 40 drivers appear to be a winner if you're looking to push your 3DMark scores to new heights. The new interface and added features are also a plus. These drivers will work for all of Nvidia's supported GPU's if you're running Windows 2000/XP and I think they are certainly worth the upgrade. I have heard reports of image quality being affected but I haven't noticed anything as of yet.

They are being extra nice to Nvidia IMO. Draw your own conclusions.

I agree with this. They worked fine except for screen artifacts everywhere including the desktop.
Went from 29.41's to 40.41's. Then went down to 30.82's w/ same problem. Now I'm back to 29.41's and happy again. Waste of time.

This is on Windows XP Pro with geforce2 GTS *not* overclocked.

Gosh darnit! I need new drivers for my GeForce4 Go 440 on my laptop! Stupid Dell. Never releasing new drivers! Anyone know where to get laptop video card drivers?
