Let me clear up some *ahem*misconceptions*ahem*.
Pretty accurate. Nice camera if you can get it near this price point.
A good pro SLR will do that, but that is not anything is the same league as mid roll rewind. Not even close.
It certainly is a bit more expensive, but shop around at walmart, or at ritz camera when they have their Fuji coupons out and then stock up. You can get 3 or 4 packs for $7-9 bucks.
No. APS is here to stay in the forseeable future.
Cmon folks if you are going to talk about this then at least know what you are talking about. If you are shooting with a crappy $15 camera using 400 speed film in poor conditions, it probably will look poor. If you shoot under normal conditions with a good camera such as this point, especially if you use 100 or 200 speed film, it will look perfectly fine. Will grain be less noticeable with 35mm? Sure, but that doesn't mean that APS will "sucketh".
That's true, but you cant do that at the time of processing with 35mm unless you get a model that physically crops the film, which obviously is something you want to avoid.
I would not recommend this to someone getting "serious" with photography. Not that the camera is not good, but there lack of upward mobility within the film format will constrain you in the future. You wont be able to get a wide variety of good and solid lenses, and some film, like black and white or infrared, is limited in APS. Dont buy an APS camera if you plan on making anything beyond 11x14. (and dont forget the effects that cropping will have.)
Its certainly better than the disposables. Most *modern* one hour photo places can do APS in one hour. This includes every walmart, ritz camera, wolf camera, etc. Your dinky neighborhood pharmacy photoshop might not be able to do it but its increasingly the standard.
If just for something to dink around with, this would be a great camera. Extremely easy to use, high quality, and yes, good pictures.
Yeah it's a great cam! I own one and it takes sharp pictures, but the 30-60 lens doesn't give much flexibilty

A good 35 mm SLF will also give midroll rewind option with film leader out.

APS film is rather expensive though

My friend seems to think they are going to do away with the APS films and it would be a waste of money. Do you think this is a possibility?
No. APS is here to stay in the forseeable future.
1. APS is has the limitations above... and it's a much less resolution than 35mm. If you have a shot you want an 8x10 of APS sucketh.
2. Those panoramic prints seem cool, you can do/order the same thing in 35mm, the APS just crops the shot. meaning it blows up a even smaller piece of negative big.

would this be good for a first time serious camera? Some of the stuff being said about teh aps film is scaring me some. I know I will be a noob to start but I do plan on taking some nice pics and maybe blowing up some nature/concert/whatever shots. Thx

Can you get the film developed at any one hour photo place? Or do you have to take it somewhere special?
This better than those disposible Kodaks you see?

Humm...shows $99 still for me and in stock. Is this worth getting into? I'm not a serious photographer (actually not a photographer at all), but would be cool to have a nice camera. The pics turn out nice
