Lava Lamp / Glitter Lamp = $5 @ Wal-Mart...

I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and saw these pushed to the front of the store in 3 carts with a clearnace price of $5 on them. Number of styles to choose from. Bought one for my 6 year old and when I got it home my wife sent me back out for 3 more (gifts). They are cool. I will post pictures of the purple and blue glitter lamps a bit later. I didn't get the Lava lamp ones though.

As is always the case with Wal-Mart your mileage may vary. I was in the St. Charles Illinois Wallyworld...

I dont work for Walmart, but when they put stuff at the front of the store in carts that means they ant sell that unique item in that unique location. That is to say - if there is a sheduled "clearance" of items, they are usually different by location (unless nationally advertised as clearance items).

In short - I agree with you - Walmart clearance items are pretty iffy. I wouldnt expect to find THIS item at the local walmart, but thanks for the heads up on the labor day clearance there . . .

By the way the regular price on these is $10 so even if your Wallyworld isn't clearing them out it's still a decent deal IMHO.

The manufacturer is "no boundaries" and the SKU is 002211398071.

As a final P.S. the Pruple one comes with a black stand (silver shown) and black "nose cone". I just put the purple glass bottle in the blue lamp's stand.

a few questions..

1. Is this deal nationwide ? can someone confirmed ?

2. does lava lamp use propriety light bulb ?

3. is that # the UPC or walmart sku ?

I can't help you with #1 and #3, but I can tell you this:

The Lava Lamp(tm) brand lamps that have been popular for so many years use a standard 40W appliance bulb (clear) that you can pick up at any home improvement store or even most grocery stores. I can't say what these use, but I know that it's a pretty typical usage of that bulb. You can get them for around two for $3 most places...

PS - I always wanted a lava lamp when I was a kid and finally got one 25 years later. I love the thing. Took it to work and have it cooking next to the monitor. Very relaxing.....

jimmyhaha, Walmart clearance items aren't nationwide so YMMV. I believe the lava lamps/glitter lamps do take a certain type of light bulb but they sell them at Walmart. The number thinlizzie posted is the upc.

I saw these on Wed for $10 at my local store and I seriously doubt they've dropped to $5. The clearance prices at my Walmart are never as low as in other areas. I asked the Mgr why that is and he said why would he lower the price when he knows he can get full price for the item.

#1... I don't know. I think corporate can make suggestions but local management has final say-so on clearance and prices otherwise. I am still waiting for that Apex 20" flat screen TV to do a $99 show here!

#2 = No, appliance bulb. One bulb comes with it.

#3 = Wal-Mart SKU. The UPC on the box is 2211398071 (for the blue). Wal-Mart just adds the two zeros at the beginning of the mfgr. UPC.

definitely not national, my walmart had these for $9.9x or something....(my walmart since I just got back to campus and there's a walmart here =)

Also, ours doesn't have the Apex 20" flat, only some RCA one?! There's a sams club right by it though.
