Lawn Mower stupidity

ha! i have that beat for stupid, i didn't put any oil in my 4 cycle lawn mower and the engine seized up

It still lubricating oil, that is it's purpose. It will cause no harm, Oil is Oil.

Oh snap.

I thought you meant you used mixed gasoline in the mower. If that was the case, you wouldn't hurt anything by running a tank of that through it, although it would smoke more.

If you put two cycle oil in the crank case, though, you need to change the oil immediately and fill it with the correct oil.

Two cycle oil is a 20 weight oil or less, it is not suitable for a 4-cycle lawnmower.

Although I do agree that it probably won't be that big of a deal, this is only true because of the relatively small percentage of two cycle oil to regular oil. At first I thought he topped it off with 2-cycle, not just added one of those 2.6oz bottles.

If he had put any significant percentage of two cycle oil into his mower, it probably wouldn't have locked up or anything, but it would certainly do it no favors.

Since it's such an old lawnmower, meh. If it was a 400$ Honda mower or something, then yeah.
