It's better to have your clippings remain on the lawn. Just get a lawn mower, and cut the grass so the clippings stay on the lawn.

well let me rephrase the question, how much should i be cutting ?

I mulch mow within a day of the grass being more than 1/3 of the blade taller than the last time I cut.

Basically every 4th day in summer.

No clippings left behind, no chunks on the grass, no green shoes.

I only bag the first and last mow of the year.

Yeah, I find the great outdoors terribly dirty don't you? I mean couldn't they replace the grass with Astro-turf or green concrete or something?

ROFL! The city just installed water meters here and we'll be going from a flat monthly rate for water to metered service and rates.

Many of the locals are up in arms and are talking about taking out their lawns and replacing them with green concrete...or astroturf.

What a travesty. They have to pay for what they use.

Anyway, considering much of California is just irrigated desert, xeriscaping should be more common anyway.

Not only that, but now they are also having to pay the added cost of meter installations.

Not directly...but yes. In the form of increased water rates.

Our Governator, Ah-nold Schwartzenactor signed a law that requires water meters for all of Kahleeforneeya by 2012...:Q
