I work for a large nationwide new print company that has recently offered voluntary severance packages at several branches...

Hoping ours is next and it's as good as what you got. For 28% of my annual salary I would walk in a heartbeat.

Nope that figure stayed the same. The biggest news is that we get a 60-day grace period. Many of us thought it would be no more than a couple weeks, or even less.

We are getting payed for unused vacation (I've got a bunch saved up). We are getting pro-rated bonus's (thought we would forfeit). Get to keep the company health plan for a decent amount of time. Plus, though I guess I should have known it was coming, we get to draw unemployment.

I'm also extra happy because some folks were forced to accept a lateral moving position and denied the voluntary severance all-together. I would have been quite upset to get stuck with that offer.

Funny... I haven't heard of any major layoff news from the big three letter technology company where I used to work. I wish I knew where the OP lived, as this would be much easier to figure out.
