I'm currently in the market for an LCD monitor, at least 17" in size. At the moment, I'm running a 19" Hitachi CRT (18" viewable) so I'm still debating whether or not to get a 17" or 18" LCD. Can anyone with first hand experience tell me if there is a justifiable reason to get an 18" instead? One problem I could forsee is the resolution/viewable area ratio. For instance, using 1280x1024 on an 18" viewable area seems like a perfect match. But does the resolution seem too squished on a 17" LCD monitor? Price isn't TOO much of a concern, but I do want to get the best bang/buck.
With that being said, can anyone with personal experience recommend a quality LCD monitor? This is mainly going to be for a work computer; web design, excel, browsing etc. normal issue stuff. I'll probably be getting a VIVO ATi card as well, so that ensures gaming and DVD playback. Refresh time is going to be an issue, as well as contrast, brightness, and colour accuracy. High definition of pixels is also something I wouldn't mind hearing about. One thing, however. I would LOVE to get my hands on a Planar PV174, but unfortunately I'm in Toronto and the Canadian division of Dell doesn't stock that monitor (or so I'm told, please indulge me if otherwise!).
Thanks!
