This is my first LCD Monitor so bear with me. We are mostly concerned with gaming performance, but are on a budget. I'm looking at

Viewsonic VX922 OR BenQ FP93GX

The VX922 appears to be the choice for gaming, but there is little info on the BenQ FP93GX.

Money is a concern, the Ben-Q is cheaper, but i'll spend the extra$$ for the VX922 if necessary.

TIA for any and all help

I have the FP91G+ and FP92G+ and they are both excellent, no dead pixels, plenty fast for gaming.....

:Q that is a hot deal, especially for the x800gto bundled! only $34.99 opposed to $109.99 before! OP if you get that monitor i would buy and sell that x800gto just because thats the cheapest ever!!!

I just bought the FP93GX 3 days ago and although have not done extensive testing, I preffer it more then my Viewsonic VX924 (922 same difference). Why? First of all the contrast ratio is 700:1 and it shows not only in Word/Excel but also in games. Both brightness and contrast is set to 60% and the screen looks very sharp, bright yet not overwhelming. On the VX924 the pitcure looks like it is behind a 'yellow screen'. Don't get me wrong, it is way better then CRT picture and for LCDs, it is still good but not as good as the BenQ.

The BenQ looks like crap (the all black version which came in my box for some reason) but that is the only negative I can say about it. The menus are a bit better too. You can, for example, set yout own RGB colors and sharpness lever (from 1-6). I am a bit dissapointed with my Viewsonic mainly because 8months ago I paid literally 2x more then the BenQ and think that the BenQ is better. I am sure that like everyone else you want to follow the 'brand path' but I would suggest you take a risk and give the BenQ a chance... I am sure that if you don't like it you can take it back within 7 days and replace it with another unit.

Cheers!

That deal from Newegg is insane. I'm really thinking about getting it with the x1600 Pro (I don't have PCI express). Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade with this from my 9800 Pro?

Edit: Sorry Conlan, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. This deal has my mind going a mile a minute and I didn't think before I posted.

Thanks much for the head to head comparison, that sealed it, i ordered the Ben-Q and the X1600Pro AGP Combo.

Ill sell the VidCard to help offset the Monitor expense.

There is a $15 MIR on that X1600Pro as well, bringing the final price to $24.99! :Q

I'll post back my experiences w/ the Ben-Q as i know this is a newer model.

No problem, it is a great deal worthy of excitement.

I bought this monitor a week and a half ago. Unfortunately I didn't see the video card combo or I would have snagged one also.

So far I am pretty happy with the panel. I was coming from a 19-inch CRT but I still found the colors to be acceptable. Gaming on the panel has been great. Only downside was 1 dead pixel but it isn't very noticeable.

Damn - that's an awesome deal - with the combo!

I'm happy with both of my BenQ LCDs (I also have a viewsonic 19" WS LCD). I don't notice any ghosting with my 8 ms monitor, so I'd imagine the 2 ms version would be great for gaming. I personally think that BenQ does a great job with their 6-bit TN panels.

I don't see where it lists an x1600pro as part of a combo. Has that offer expired or am I not looking in the right place? All I see is an x800gto for $45.
