ST, you have the first version of the X37, after which they used different finish on the LCD case (version 2 and 3 sets). It's darker nicely finished plastic with a black border around the LCD screen that looks similar to Panny Plasmas, instead of the ugly medium grey plastic... though they never got rid of the crappy silkscreens.

I need help
I've opened a thread few days ago
here
but just received couple of answers
yeah, I know I'm such a n00b
I'm totally, utterly disappointed with my Samsung 740B
or maybe I'm just too picky
thing is I've had lots of LCD monitors (last 2 were a Dell 1702 and a 5 years old Iyama) and never had an issue (this includes my 2 laptops)
It's so damn bright my eyes burn. Text looks like crap and not focused. It also gives me headache and a sense of nausea
Does it depend on the very low response time?
what monitor do you guys suggest? I couldn't care less about FPSs
I was thinking about the Dell 1704FPV (25ms, 1000:1 contrast)
thanks in advance

Dell 2007WFP fares very well so I've added it to recommendations. For movie watching, I recommend the 2007WFP and not the NEC 20WMGX2 because of the glossy finish.

Excellent source. Bookmarked. Any thoughts (anyone) on wether the Dell 2007FP and Dell 2007WFP are essentially camparable panels other than the aspect ratio. The WFP version seem to be getting lots of exposure in reviews, and several recommendations in this buyers guide here, but nothing for he FP version. Personally in 20" size, I prefer the thicker 4:3 monitor.

Any idea why the 2007FPW was kept at x1050 instead of making it a much more useful x1080 resolution (with whatever natural necessary increase in horizontal resolution as well to keep the right ratio)?

Maybe give the BenQ FP71G+ a try.

Check this one out. Acer AL1951C
Supposedly Acers gamer LCD and even supports 8bit color (16.7million)
I only found one users review for it. What do you think of it?

The extra height is a compromise between desktop usage and movie watching.

Extra height? You mean lack of height. It's 30 pixels shorter than 1080. What's the compromise between exactly? 960 and 1080? Going so close to 1080 without hitting it is rather disappointing. 30 more pixels would gain them more buyers and the ability to call it a 1080p display. They could market it more strongly and sell more of them and probably even command a slightly higher price.

What is the difference between the 2007FP and 2007WFP?
Also, I may be mistaken, but isn't the 2007WFP essentially the same monitor as the 2005WFP? Right now, Dell.com is showing the 2007 & 2005 at the same price, but I would imagine they will put the 2005s on clearance soon?
Dell monitors with W are widescreen:
2007FP is 20" 4:3 1600x1200.
2007WFP is 20" 16:10 1680x1050.
I prefer the FP for the extra screen real estate and compatablity with with my work sessions which are 1600x1200 on a 21" trinitron. Though Widescreen seems much more fashionable these days and all anyone seems to be reviewing.
I would love to see a 2007fp vs 2007wfp review to see if it is only the aspect ratio that is different
