ok, here is what I think about 2025 - the text is a bit too small @ 1680, it's fine, but not as good as on my vx924, probably because it's 17" just WS. In games I had some problems with gamma, like in Red orchestra the green uniforms as the rest looked very bright, the metal had some greyish bright tone and I did not like that at all. I didnt have any problems with fps though, but 1gb memory usage in Red orchestra and 100% cpu utilization in HL2 DM (and BG2 mod) were a bit problematic, besides you cant do alt+tab on this monitor while playing =) I havent tested other games on it, like rome total war but I think it would have problems displaying 2 000 units on a battle field at ones, (at least if you dont have sli/CF).

Finally, with some great MP game to come out soon like Quake wars etc a sli or CF would be a must for a smooth gameplay.

I'm not a hardcore gamer, i mostly just play driving games for 3-4 hours per week. i was quite impressed with how it handled those. although even in games i couldnt find a suitable brightness/gamma balance.

the other problem i had was pretty heavy blacklight bleeding from all 4 corners. this was only noticable on a dark backround. and when i did have one, it looked like an x-men wallpaper. but that didnt bother me as much since im not gonna be looking at anything with a black backround very much. as my usage will mainly be browsing and some driving games.

so that was the issue with the vx2025wm. as i said,i went down to futureshop last night and spent bout 25 mins playing around with the 215tw and various settings on it and had a really good first impression in finding a good balance for all the things i mentioned earlier. so im going to be giving that a try. futureshop has a good return policy so i dont see any harm in trying it out. might get lucky, if not i guess the hunt will continue. i wouldve loved to try out the nec you mentioned but unfortunately i cant find it in any stores up here in Edmonton,Canada.

Well if your not a big time gamer then definately try the 215tw. I had a hard time giving it up becuase the display looked so good. It was just the ghosting that was driving me crazy.

when you had the 215TW, did you ever find out if its HD-Ready Via DVI or Component Input with HDCP? I know the Gateway FPD2185W is but that one is pretty expensive for me right now and it does seem to be a remarkably similiar panel to the 215tw

No, you or someone said that. I just never thought of a 2.8Ghz as low spec.

If I remember well, they got the same problem reviewing the VP191, in fact, its complicated to know what kind of product Viewsonic will send to you. Again, I recomend you take a look to the HP L1955, a year old model, but still the best around.

no that was me, 2.5ghz 3200+ and it gets 100% usage while playing some realy simple games like cs:s (with vx2025) ;( it's either my task manager that is f-cked up with the rest of windows, or there is something wrong with this monitor.

OMG! That's one prob for me.. I have a low computer specs. So does that mean that it will be useless to own a VX2025WS with this specs:

Motherboard: ECS 915p-a
Processor: Intel lga 775 2.8ghz
Memory: 2x 512 Kingston RAM
VideoCard: Inno3d 6600 PCI-E

Did that test for you with F.E.A.R multiplayer and yes my cpu was pegged at 100% No idea if it did it with my 19" crt. It didnt seem to be affecting the game though. I was running fast and smooth.

Yes, I have now checked HP L1955 monitor's specs and price, it's too expenisve and it's 16ms panel.

My ViewSonic VP930's manufacturing date is 2006 January.

hm, thats bad, I was getting some slowdowns while playing redorchestra, anyway, looks like too many problems with WS... so i think vx922 it is.

OR there is something wrong with 3200+ that you and I have. Could someone with non3200+ cpu and vx2025 test cpu utilization while gaming? thx

Yep, its expensive, but the Viewsonic its a 20ms b2b / 8ms g2g using overdrive, the HP is a true 8-bits 16ms without "tweaks". www.prad.de found it very responsive, but because its an old model, there is no direct comparison to VP930B or even the 970P (mi favorite) But I still consider it as the best profesional 19" monitor out there.

The VX2025 will scale, or not, depending on your video card settings. In display properties (settings --> advanced), Nvidia cards have a 'Digital Flat Panel' section with four different choices on how to scale. You can either do old resolutions with black bars, or you can stretch, and you do it according to how your monitor wants to or how your card wants to.

I believe ATI cards have similar settings.

Dell is currently trying to dump 2007WFPs on unsuspecting buyers by giving them the 22% off their already reduced rate, making them available new for around $360. Unbelievable. If they weren't faulty I'd grab a second one for that kind of price.

According to Chi Mei (maker of S-MVA)'s website, they only sell a 16.2M 19" TFT now...

My guess is that they are not using an S-MVA but a P-MVA or S-PVA. Specs look like the VP930b, an AUO P-MVA.

The specs remain unchanged since the monitor was released, so, its difficult to say if something was changed. They still says response time < 16ms, contrast 1000:1. The only panel I got in mind using such specifications are Samsung's S-PVA (there is in fact a direct comparison with such panel un prad.de). Still, people of this forum confirmed me that the monitor still have an unrivaled color and bright uniformity for its class, far superior of VP930b, so if both panels end up using the same technology it will become a very serious alternative.

The Dell 2007s have a banding problem from what I'm hearing. Pretty bad too from the users posting about it.

I have an ATI card. At this point, ATI's software does not allow the same type of scaling that you describe for Nvidia to get the blacks bars. Based on what I have read and seen for myself, old computer games will look artifically stretched on the VX2025 unless you have an Nvidia card or play a game that can be modified to work in widescreen.

If anyone has found this to be untrue, I would to know about it so that I can try it out on my own system and monitor.

If I were shopping for a monitor, this would be the one I would buy. Looks good.

HORIZONTAL SCANNING FREQUENCIES 28~92 kHz (autoscanning)
VERTICAL SCANNING FREQUENCIES 56~85 Hz (autoscanning)

VrHz = ((HrkHz*1000)/HorizLines) * 0.95

With this formula here are the available modes for that monitor:

Width --- Height --- Refresh Rate (vertical frequency)
1600x1200 -- 72.833 Hz
1280x1024 -- 85.000 Hz (capped by vertical rate)
1024x768 -- 85.000 Hz (capped by vertical rate)
800x600 -- 85.000 Hz (capped by vertical rate)
640x480 -- 85.000 Hz (capped by vertical rate)

Products like the Dell 2007FP have a horizontal range of just 30~81 kHz and a vertical of just 56~76 Hz so I'm confident the LG L2000C can go to 72 Hz at 1600x1200 unlike other 20" LCDs.
