Thank you XTKnight for your quick reply,

Hopefully response time isn't a huge factor in your decision because I don't think this would excel in that area.
No response time is not a factor.

Do you need a dither-free display or simply one with a good perceived image?

A good perceived image that would not give me eye strain.

Also, I can also purchase a 19 inch that has a small bezel.

Thanks again

The Samsung 740T and Samsung 970P would be the best choices (both are high-contrast PVAs). I can't guarantee you won't get eye strain with any LCD though.

I have a question, A friend of mine told me anything under 800:1 is not good for gaming.

But on here, there is a 19" Viewsonic that is 650:1 that is under the great for gaming section....

So, what are you all's thoughts?

Thanks

Contrast isn't as relevant to gaming as response time is. Displays with lower contrast tend to have faster response times (which is why there is a separate section for high-contrast displays that are just barely optimal for gaming). Also, the LCDs with a contrast ratio labeled '800:1' are probably performing at only 600:1, and ones labeled 600:1 may be performing at 400-500:1.

Was looking to use some dell credit, since they sell viewsonic, but they are twice as much as the cheapest I can find (Dell is wanting 450ish), I found this one for 264 on pricewatch

Acer AL1951C

It looks nice, nice design and has all the good features you would want. But does it deliver in real life?

Looks like not too many reviews online of this monitor. The customer reviews all seem to be great.

Not sure...but a similar model does very decent in the image quality comparison here:

http://www.lesnumeriques.com/duels.php?...o1=62&p1=691&ma2=41&mo2=67&p2=730&ph=1

I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try. It likely uses the same panel as the BenQ FP93G X. Also, faster than the FP91G+. The AL1951C has the CrystalBrite coating from what I can tell.

Just got my NEC 20wmgx2. Looks great but it now has extreme backlight bleeding.

Damn. I thought paying these high ass prices would sorta make me immune to this problem.

Does this mean that the 2007WFP will go on the list of recommended all purpose monitors?

I am curious (and asked in another thread with no response) about the Dell vs. Samsung215TW. I need a new monitor at work, no video gaming or movies, just image editing/design with Photoshop and Fireworks. Although, there are times when I may stay after hours to blow off some steam with an fps

Thanks for any response!

We need to see what the fix really does. A lot of folks had text blur as well as banding. Does it fix everything or just banding? Does it impact quality in other ways?

The Samsung 215TW would easily win that one. As for the Dell, I will have to see how things pan out. Will it be that great in the end?

I was so close in purchasing the 2007FPW monitor but when i found out it had banding issues... I just lost faith in Dell.

Are there any new upcoming widescreen monitors for entertainment and gaming use?

Hi ppl, I'm looking to buy an LCD Monitor and was reading almost the whole thread, but I'm still not sure what to buy.

My choice is around a 19" non-widescreen and maximum 250$ (I don't have more money). I was searching on the 'egg reading comments, I want good color and speed balance (play some nice games some times and programming and surfing a lot), my first view was on Benq FP93G but some comments there says that color isn't very good (black is gray as example), I'm actually most inclined to the HP L1906 or the Samsung 920N but still not sure.

What do you think of this models or what your recommend on this budget.

Thanks!

You could try the FP91G+. From the reviews I've seen it's supposed to be very decent for the price. It has DVI and is fast. It does 16.2m colors+dithering like the ones you linked (even though they say 16.7m, that is after dithering, the BenQ specs are just more accurate). http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014090

Not sure about upcoming ones, but for now the ViewSonic VX2025WM is a good choice.

I haven't heard about that. Where did you read it?
