There goes the summer. You will spend all your summer writing faqs, that almost noone reads (I think). The faqs should live a more prominent life here on AT. They almost live in the shadows. Though there have not been that many "how to rip mp3s" lately in software.

But what are these holes in the FiringSquad article? Is it just minor mistakes or something major?
FS Board where a NEC worker talks about a gaming lcd. Probably not anything special, but YOU have been talking to LG lately. Do they have something up their sleeve?

Thanks for explaining the 6g thingie. It's all about size, as usual

JZilla - I dont write FAQs in the AndyHui sense. I just write articles then put them on the front page

We work with a lot of these guys pretty closely. Since we dont like to publicly advertise what we are doing to our competitors all the time, the best I can tell you is that NEC has some interesting ideas on the horizon too.

Have you seen this thread at Ars?

LG2010P review

Edit:

That one above is not the correct link - this one is.

Correct link

Still don't get it.

Are you saying LG are lying?
Passing off the 25ms panel as a 16ms one?

CADdie over at Ars has bought one - see the link above to his review thread. Response time is discussed. He seems happy.

Has anyone, apart from CADdie, actually bought, tested, or been demonstrated, one of these?

Yes. Viewsonic like to do it aswell, but not as drastic as changing the response time which will "massively" improve sales on that product, leaving the consumer screwed over.

i am interested in getting this sony. It has 22ms response time, which from what i understand, is pretty good. I like that it is widescreen, as i watch quite a bit of movies. I also do a little gaming...vice city, MOAH, etc. Is this a good monitor, or can i find something better for $600?

Any way we can get a look at what is done? Not trying to be a pain...but I am itching to by a 20+ inch LCD for gaming and I do not know which one to buy. I thought the ViewSonic was the one (based on reading up on things - the VX2000 to be specific), but there are so many aspects about flat screens that I do not know about. I am sure whatever you have written will help a lot in my decision process. If anyone wants to comment on a recomendation as to what screen to by, I will give you my parameters:

at least 20"...preferably larger
Used for gaming mostly (first person shooters), but other things too
Will be connected to a GeFroce4 Ti-4600 (LeadTek) 128MB
Willing to spend $1,300+
Willing to wait a "little" while if something awesome if on the horizon

It frankly doesn't haqve to be new either if someone here knows of some ideas, but for this kind of coin, I really want some value.

Look forward to any and all comments.

Thanks,

-Kirk

I?m not that naïve that I think manufactures are above reproach (look at ATI?s questionable driver tweaks last year ? look at USB 2) but that?s a very strong accusation that could have serious repercussions for LG if it turns out you are correct.

The Inquirer has just given is a terrific review. Link

They mention gameplay as still not being good enough for hardcore FPS addicts though but don?t go into detail about the response times.

Maybe Anandtech could review it and clear up the controversy?

Look forward to the review. Run it side by side with a known 16ms 17incher and hopefully, that should clear things up once and for all. Personally I hope it's pucker. Certainly the LG person I spoke to in Sweden sounded genuine.

I read the Inquirer quite often. Missed the one about the bat boys. Are you quite sure Mike Magee didn't have his tongue firmly planted in his cheek when he posted it?

ROFL. Maybe I should start reading the Inq. It seems like it is pretty entertaining.

OK, i want to use it for gaming and movies, then regular stuff. Some people also tell me that LCDs burn out a lot, dead pixels and everything.

For games and movies 25ms monitors depends on how sensitive you are to percieving ghosting. 16ms monitors rarely display any sort of blur or ghosting, and are only available in 17 inch. When you get your monitor you might have 1 or 2 or even 3 or more dead pixels, which are little dots that are either red, blue, green, or black. Its a common defect in LCD production. Check the dead pixel warranty of the LCD your getting, the less dead pixels allowed before a refund is better.

i dont think ive seen ghosting before...havnt had much LCD usage. 22ms the best over 16ms? Thats what the sony has i want to get. Im also buying from CC or BB, so any dead pixels...return it i think. thanks.
