I'm considering purchasing a ViewSonic VE700 flat panel display. I know that ViewSonic's warranty regarding dead pixels is that there has to be more than 5 dead pixels in order to be able to exchange it for a new unit. Let's say I check the display before buying it, making sure that there are no dead pixels. My question is this, what are the chances of the display to fail in the future? Can I get dead pixels, say, in a few months after use?

I'm sure a pixel can fail after some time, however ViewSonic claims the chance is very small.

An anomaly on any one of these individual transistors will cause a bright or dark pixel to appear. These anomalies generally occur only during manufacturing, and additional bright or dark pixels should not appear over time.
