Hey

I am looking after a good LCD (good imagine quality) that also is able to play games like CS:S and Unreal Tournament 2004 (fast games).
I have looked at Samsung 913N and Hyundai L90D+ which one would you chose, or if you have another possibility then please tell.

Kind regards

As I hoped you would notis, then are the two screens 19" LCD's, so that is the size I would like to have.

The money is difficult, I am living in Denmark so the price is a bit diffrent, but lets say that it should not be much more then the price of the 2 LCD's I mention.

Thinks for the link, but I would be glad if you could tell me why you chose that screen instead of those I have found.

Sceptre NagaII x9, I have one, an absolutely superb monitor. Every time someone asks about a gaming lcd I have to mention it. 12ms, true 8-bit panel a very rare combination on 19" lcds. I have never seen any ghosting and the colors are great. Some people are turned off by the lack of a brand name, and the 1-year warranty but I'm telling you it's worth it. O yea, and its has a 2h glare coating, although this sounds bad its actually good, it allows for a much crisper picture than those monitors that have an anti-glare coating.

Here is the list of Sceptre LCDs:
http://www.sceptre.com/Products/LCD/x-index.htm

They now have 8ms versions out, and the NagaII x9 Gamer Edition has yellow, red, white inputs for consoles. I would have bought the gamer edition but they were not distributing it yet. I would get the NagaIII or wait for the NagaIV, but you could save money with the NagaII. Bought mine from Tiger Direct, the only online retailer selling them at the time I bought my monitor.

I have always liked viewsonic products. They are good quality and have always gotten great reviews. Samsungs panels speak for themselves as you probably know. They are tops in the market IMO. The response time on the Samsung 913N you chose is 22ms. 8ms would be much better for gaming. Dont know much about the Hyundai except for the review I read on TomsHardware. Seems to be a responsive, accurate lcd under their tests. It is said that the 17 inchers are more responsive than their brother 19's, but I personally like the larger panels.

LCD for gaming, as of right now I don't believe the Hyundai L90D+ can be beat, especially for 19" and for the price they go for. Even if there was a better performing 19" gaming LCD on the market right now, I'd doubt it'd beat the price/performance of the L90D+.

It is an 8ms panel, ofcourse which you cannot always trust the manufactures specs to be 100% accurate, but what would that say about the 22ms panel. Is this what you were asking? I cannot quite pick up on your question.

The Samsung is also a 8 ms panel, but like others 8ms panel, then they will go to a maximum of about 20ms.
So when ou compere 8 ms Viewsonic and 22ms Samsung, then I sees it like compering spec with practic preformance.

ps.
1) It seems that Sceptre is not being sold i Europe, so it is not an possibility,

2) In Denmark Samsung is about 50-60 $ cheaper, is this changing yuor opinion about 913N vs. L90D+

If you go in that direction, do NOT forget to throw in a DVI cable. It does not come standard with that model.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I back either the BenQ FP931 or Hyundai L90D+. There is also an 8ms BenQ panel, FP937 I believe, that is sold in most places except the US. It might be available in Denmark.

Well if your only concern is gaming, a 6-bit panel like the L90D+ will suit you just fine. But if its your primary display, and you watch movies or do picture/video/3D editing on it youll be much better off with a true 8-bit panel. Im looking at picking up a viewsonic vp191b , its an 8-bit panel with a 16ms reponse time

i have both the samsung 712n and dell 2005fpw. the image quality and color reproduction is alot better on the dell screen (apparently made by LG?). you can pick up the dell for around $500-550 on one of their sales.

I have the Hyundai L90D+ and it's great. The one I received had 0 dead pixels and I've experienced 0 ghosting problems (not to say it isn't present, I've only had it for a week and I'm not a good judge of ghosting).

Gaming is where it really shines. World of Warcraft and Half Life 2 both look stunning paired with this screen and my x800XL.

Office applications actually exceeded my expectations. I had been hearing about how LCDs are horrible with text display and I was preparing for the worst. It's not bad at all, not CRT crisp but more than acceptable.

The only real problem I have with it is that DVDs don't look nearly as good as they do on a CRT. But I prefer watching them on a TV anyway. Lastly I wish they hadn't included speakers so I could've gotten it for even cheaper!

Good bang for your buck with the Hyundai L90D+.

For what your going to be using it for i'd easily say the Hyundai L90D+, using one right now & it'll see mostly office/web/games & the odd movie/show usage, it's perfectly suited for those tasks.

It replaced a Sony G400 19" CRT, I held on to that G400 for ages until the right LCD came out, & this Hyundai is it, great monitor for the price, easily recommended.
