lcd monitor - DFP???

i posted a question on here earlier thinking a new monitor i ordered from a friend was dvi, but apparently he seems to think it is dfp, has anyone heard of this connection??? its a compaq lcd monitor (model FP725-D). can i get a converter somewhere so he can hook this up to a regular video card??? thanks for the help guys!!!

I think the DFP he's referring to is "digital flat panel" and has nothing to do with the connection interface. Does he know what DVI is? Odds are that the monitor has a regular old VGA interface but also happens to be a DFP monitor... that would be my guess...

DFP was the first connector type specified by the Digital Flat Panel working group, which is the same group that developed DVI. DFP connectors have been phased out in favor of the current DVI-I and DVI-D connectors. Like DVI-D, this connector supports digital only. Do a search on the Internet, you can find DFP to DVI-D cables.

yeah dfp was the original standard. it didnt have as much bandwith as dvi, and i think only supports a max of 1280x1024 x 24 bits

There are several different standards, but they [almost] all are electrically compatible.

That means you just need the right adapter to make the physical plugs plug into each other.
