LCD monitor Question ! I am just curious

Hi I recently bought the Dell 2000FP LCD monitor. I am just curious on the life expactancy of LCds monitors. I normally set the monitor to turn it off after 20 mins. However, I want to know if I turn it on and off 5 times a day will it curtail its life expantancy? In addition, will it be better for me to turn it off right away after I used it while leave the computer on or to let the clock turn it off by itself?

some helpful insight would be very appreciated.

I seem to remember reading about this for my thinkpad. The backlight will only work for so many (like several thousand or hundreds of thousand) hours. The more you can turn it off the better.

It might help you to use power management to turn off the screen after so many minutes of non-use. Control-Panel, DISPLAY, SCREEN SAVER, POWER MANAGEMENT.

The cold cathode fluorescent lamps that light up the LCD are rated in hours. The rest of the LCD assembly will last a long time, but it's not easy replacing the CCFL.

wonder if that's doable for ..cheap this could become a hot deal if can find some cheap ccfls
