LCD TV as Monitor?

I am moving to a 1 bedroom apartment to be on my own and want to get rid of Directv which I have had for 2 years and replace it with Hulu, Joost, Bittorrent, and other web technologies. Currently I have a 22" monitor but that is not big enough for a TV. If I buy a 32" or bigger tv, can I hook it up to my computer as a second monitor through DVI or HDMI?

HDMI most likely. Lots of LCD TVs also have VGA hookups.

Plenty of people use their LCD TVs as their monitors as well.

as long as your HDMI out on your video card is HDCP compliant, yes, otherwsie you may have some issues if you try to play back BD.

If you just want to use it as a computer monitor and watch 'full screen' videos you should be fine.

I would recommend a 1080p otherwise you may have to sit further away (at 720p) than you are comfortable for day to day computer tasks.

Cool. Sitting farther away is not a problem. Just want to make sure that hardware limitations are not going to get in the way of what I am planning in my head! Thanks!

Vizio is good, they usually have a HDMI input.

Yes, I've had a 40" 1080p Samsung hooked up DVI --> VGA on one DVI port and a 19" Viewsonic VX922 hooked up on the other DVI port for a year. I use the Viewsonic for gaming and the like, and the Samsung anytime I want to stream Netflix/movies/etc. from my computer. The Nvidia control panel makes it real simple switching between the two.

That's what I do. My 40" Sony 1080p HDTV is hooked up to my PC as a secondary monitor. I use Vista Media Center to record and playback all of my shows.

Same here, 42" 1080 set va HDMI. Mine wouldn't go higher than 1024x768 over VGA.
I don't even own a standalone DVD player anymore.
I use it to watch cable (with HD channels) and everyday PC stuff.
No more sitting at a computer desk for me!
