I am in the market for an LCD between 40-52 inches. The bigger the better, I am replacing an Olevia 37" right now. This TV is going to be wall mounted in my living room.

There are a few models I'm debating, but I'm really torn.

Sharp LC46D85U for $1100

Sony KDL-46V4100 for $1040, but this one is an open box and I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

Samsung LN46B530 for $1100

or

Sony KDL-46S5100 for $1000

As you can see my price range. is around $1000, not set in stone but I don't want to go much above that really. I've also seen some good prices on different Panasonic Viera models, but not sure how I feel about those. I've never seen them in person. Right now I'd say my leader is probably the Sharp model, but like I said I'm really torn. Hoping some knowledgeable people here can shed some light on these different models for me?

Around 8 feet. Depends on where in the room I sit. my 37" is wall mounted there right now. Although it is small, its not horrible.

One more tv to consider here.

$850 for a 46" is a GREAT deal, imo. No tax online and free shipping is just ++. Only thing is its a sceptre. I have one of their LCD monitors, nice piece of equipment. I just haven't owned a tv of theirs before. Any experience anyone?

I had a Sceptre TV about 2 years ago and I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. Thank god it was from Costco so I could return it, because it was awful. SD looked like absolute garbage, the VGA input barely worked on any normal resolution and 720p scaling even was lacking pretty bad.

The Samsung 46B530 or 46S5100 would definitely be my choice. Avoid the 46V4100 as that is last years TV (5XXX is this years Sony). Also I am not a big fan of Sharps these days, they seem to be behind the times compared to Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, LG and most the other top tier companies. Not that their TVs are bad but they just don't compare with the others.
