oh btw, you can buy them on ebay or if you watch the for/sale forum or arstechnica's sale forum you can usually get one off there.

I have the Viewsonic VA520. I love it for gaming. It's a 15 incher, with a typical constrast ration of 400:1. It has a 25 ms pixel response time. It has no blurring or ghosting. The maximum refresh rate is 75 Hz at 1024x768. Everything is crystal clear on it, games/movies all look great.
I have been looking at the monitor for a few weeks and from what I can tell is that this monitor uses the same screen at the high-end VX800 except that it doesn't feature a digital connector. I am considering it since it is such a good deal. Viewsonic is advertising this monitor on their site and since then, they have dropped the price a bit. Although they claim 600:1, its brightness is on par with other LCDs that claim as low as 350:1.Originally posted by: grimreaper19
Does anyone have more info on the Viewsonic VG-800 18" LCD. The price is great, around $580 shipped. It has a 600:1 contrast ratio, 25ms response time, but it features only an analog connector.

Whatever, if you want to fork out money for an obsolete monitor that requires a special video card with no chance of support - over newer technology that's better and cheaper, go right ahead. It's a free country.
ahahahhah, it dosent require a special video card, just get the multi link adapter and use it with any card that has dvi or a vga, such as a geforce 4

yeah and the multi-link adapter (IF you can find it) costs more than most video cards
Anything with 25ms response times is fair for gaming - though a few folks find that intolerable. Stick with digital because very little recent technology has appeared without it. FFD was supposed to be out for Christmas LAST year too. Brightness is hardly a problem with current tech screens so doubled brightness = no big deal. New LCD tech usually comes out in the most expensive screens first - so while you are waiting for your FFD monitor to appear and then become affordable we will all be happily chugging along on our 25ms LCDs.

Yeah, I think Samsung is the biggest Korean success story - they've broken through the shell of bad Korean reputation . IE - Hyundai, KIA.
