LCHF Eating vs. Vegan/Raw Eating...thoughts?

What's the consensus? I have type 2 diabetes and am exploring different options to try.

I have several Type II coworkers and the general consensus is protein-loading, i.e. eating some protein before having a cupcake or whatever. I think the old-school style of thinking is having to following a specific diet, whereas the updated version is making sure to protein-load before having a carb hit, and then not overdoing it on the carbs (i.e. eating one or two cupcakes, not half a dozen) so your body doesn't get flooded. I have low blood sugar, but they follow the same tricks as me - having a protein hit every few hours to keep your blood sugar steady. Otherwise I dip mid-morning & mid-afternoon between meals.

I've tried just about every diet out there. They're all good. Just depends what you like to eat. I mostly follow Paleo because I'm allergic to dairy & grains, so there are lots of recipes available for me. What does a typical day of eating look like for you right now? (honestly)

The protein loading helps soften the glucose spike and satiates hunger (so eat less carbs after). But does nothing about the glycemic load of the carbs eaten. Seems suboptimal compared to eliminating carbs, but whatever works I guess.

Yeah, I can only relay secondhand information as I'm not diabetic myself, just sharing what my coworkers do. None of them have special diets. They just don't dope up on treats like I do (I like half a dozen cookies, not just a couple) in addition to having some protein beforehand, or base what they eat on how they feel at the time, rather than just eating whatever they want blindly.

Just eat the raw/vegan foods you want that fit into a low carb high fat diet. Around three years ago I lost 80 lbs. by first staying under 100g of carbs on a daily basis, and then by using a ketogenic diet to restrict net carbs to less than 30g per day. While on the ketogenic diet, I would eat raw vegetables: broccoli, green beans, green peppers, baby spinach, arugula, romaine, bok choy (this was usually cooked) - basically if it was a green vegetable I was eating it. I also ate fruits that were low in sugar and higher in fiber - strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, avocado, tomato. I think you can incorporate a lot of vegan/raw foods into a LCHF diet.

None of the foods I've mentioned are going to produce undesirable results in regards to eating them with Type 2 Diabetes.
