hmm i was thinking of getting one of those leadteks for $210, seemed like a really good deal. But from this thread they seem to have a very high DOA rate. Maybe its just leadtek. My boss bought a refurbed chaintech 6600GT from newegg and its perfect. full retail box with all software and the card runs great, evern overclocks decent too.

Doesn't refurbished mean fixed? I guess not. I hope my refurbished Samsung monitor I am getting back (RMA'd a new one) is decent.

If you have a good quality psu (ie antec) 350watt will do the trick. A generic 350watt psu's are the one you have to worry about.

I ran a 6800Ultra on my enermax 350 without problem(A64 1 HD 1 CDROM). If its generic. you'll have to get a new PS eventually anyway. Newer components need more on the 12V rail then before.

Got mine today, and so far all seems fine. I ran the BF2 demo 1600x1200 all setting high except left aa off, and it was running smooth as silk. I will mess with aa settings shortly, I have just been checking all my games to make sure they are working correctly. Also no problems so far from removing old Radeon 9800pro drivers and installing the new Geforce drivers. I was worried I would have to reinstall the OS for some reason, but all is good so far.
Mine came full retail, everything was included, but it did look like it had been used before.
I will keep evryone informed if I run into any problems.

L8TR and good luck to all who purchase one of these cards - JEKYLL

Got mine today and its DOA. How are you guys handling your RMA's? Are you sending them back to leadtek? Do they offer advanced replacment? Are you sending them back to newegg? what does newegg do if they don't have an refurbed cards left? Do they give you a new one?

thanks,
ncage

I'd say you are best off rma'ing thru Leadtek, as Newegg probably has no more of these at this time. I have rma'd a couple of items thru Leadtek and they are pretty good with the turn around time(usually about a week after they take receipt of the rma item) I don't think they have advance replacement though.

IMHO they are one of the best.

And buying a refurb can end in disaster, but only if you don't know how to play it. The flip side is a brand new 6800GT for $210, you are out about two weeks time.

I'm so happy that I found this post. I found this deal through another forum, quickly hopped on it since the person I heard it from got a working card, and got a DOA. I told my buddy about the deal and he got a working card the same day I got my DOA card. I've already received an RMA # for the card, but I hate to send it back since they don't have any more in stock. It also seems like the new ones they get in stock could possibly be the DOA ones others have returned.

I've contacted Leadtek and they've tried to give me tips on getting the card to work, but it's broken. I was considering RMA'ing it through Leadtek, but I've read so many posts about the bad quality of the Leadtek 6800gt's.

My main concern is that I would RMA through Leadtek, get another bad card, and then not be able to RMA back to Newegg for my refund. I'm then totally out the $211 (which is a fortune to a poor college kid).

I saw that Newegg got some XFX and Prolink refurb'ed 6800gt's last night and picked up a Prolink, but cancelled the order because I'm too scared of reburbs now.

So for those of you rma'ing through Leadtek, what are your plans if you receive another broken card? Will you try again with Leadtek, or try to return the new card to Newegg? Will Newegg accept a different card than the one you bought? Will you still have time to RMA with Newegg? Thanks again for this post. It's been very helpful thus far.

Got mine. Full retail box, all software and connectors and manuals. Plugged it in and had some pretty bad artifacts. was able to boot to windows. More artifacts, but I could still read the screen. Guess I am going to RMA through leadtek; looks like newegg is just sending the returns back out.

I RMAed mine to Newegg..if i get another broken one (about 1/4 chance get two broken ones in a row), then I'll complain like none other and hopefully get a new one out of the deal.

I'm still curious what happens if you RMA through Leadtek but receive another dead card. If that happens then you're out $211....right? What kind of warranty do they give you for this sort of thing?

Post the serial numbers of the DOA cards, and see if someone else gets it back from Newegg, still DOA?

If it happens once, good chance it happens alot.

Wondering if at the very least, Newegg is resending returns, to get 'second opinion', from second user. Then if second use says, its bad, send it back to the vendor. In any case, Newegg it sending out too many bad cards, to be automatically sending all returns to vender first, and then having a few of those vender refurbs fail. Not much excuse for artifacts to be showing up at, or just after boot up, on a vender refurb. Too hard to miss by tech. I doubt the 'tech' has even seen those 'lets get a second comsumer opinion' cards that get send back out, and indeed are factory rejects or cards the first customer hosed up.

Hi

The 2 I got are both DOA 1 will just artifact thru both ports and continues to reboot. The other I managed to get it to boot using the DVI port analog was dead and increasing the AGP voltage to 1.60V but it will not play any games or even switch reso;ultions on the fly without crashing the system. I will RMA them to the Egg on Monday. Will post when they return them

Kogan initially had one (from another thread) that had picture corruption, but he fixed it somehow.

I got one in Friday... played with it Saturday, ended up being DOA... it has 1-2 second freezes (freezes whole system, sound repeats while it's frozen) during HL2 and the bundled Rainbox Six game... doesn't freeze during doom, I guess because doom isn't a directx game.

Wow, I stumbled on this deal all by myself at Newegg and ordered 6/21.

DOA,

odd characters all over the screen on power-up, never even tried booting Windows.
I like the idea of posting serial numbers. I specifically asked the Newegg rep I was getting my RMA # from if they'd resend stuff that's been returned like this and she said "no", but who knows... I'll post mine tonite!

Mine seems to be working, there was a small problem with the fan when I put the tower back up but I fixed it, it made a lot of noise but doesn't anymore. Played a bit of CSS and it worked great. Gonna install the new 77.5 drivers and try out some BF2 and then stress test with 3dmark05.

Got my card on Friday of last week, works perfect. Ran loops of 3DMark05 for 4 hours, then played around in Doom, HL2, UT04, ect. I spent the rest of my weekend playing through Riddick (which was just about unplayable on my 9800pro). Great Game btw.

One Q for members that got working cards - How is the temp reporting on your cards? Idol temp is 51C, load temp is only 56-58C. Seems to low to be right?

You have no reason to be pissed off. Newegg clearly states that you are taking a risk by ordering refurbished products and you clearly took the risk head on by purchasing it. If you are truely eager to purchase another 6800GT for this price then try eBay. I'm sure they have these prices all the time.

Idle temp on mine is 57C with ambient 41C. Load shows about 74C while playing BF2.

I installed RivaTuner and it has a great tool to show ya temperature history.

I've overclocked mine to 400 / 1100 though. I'm sure that add some heat. It only takes about 1 or 2 minutes to cool down from high temp to idle temp. I'm sure that huge heatsink has something to do with it.
