again i love this card, i just bought a 1600+ cpu, and i put it in to test the chip, i had a 2400+ in it before, now when i am encoding and watching tv, it lags some, but when i had the 2400+ in it, it worked great, also i put the tv as background on desktop, im not sure if i like it, but a nice feature, here is a bump for a great card, and someone asked what all the hipe was all about, i feel like it is about the price and features, and it seems like everyone here has one so any questions are easy to get answered, love the card, and it was my first tv card, im happy with it

It's as capable and feature-packed as the "Deluxe" and I think the leadtek package is a very nice package overall, especially compared to Hauppauge WinTV 401 which I've owned previously. The Leadtek remote way better and the software is much nicer/more refined with more features. I hear the Phillips-based tv tuners are good too.

Anyway, I'd say identify what you plan to do with the card (watch tv only? record shows? want the sharpest picture? etc.)
and then find a card that has those features that is getting good reviews from current owners. If the Leadtek tuners have the features you want, and enough happy users, then give it a try. One thing to keep in mind is that you might want an external tv tuner so your PC doesn't have to be on in order to watch TV on your monitor. Some people might find that useful.

For me, I just want to be able to watch tv on the PC and record shows so I can watch later from time-to-time (I haven't recorded anything yet though). I also like the FM radio feature. I connect my cable tv to my "Deluxe" card, and although the "Expert" might deliver a sharper picture given I'm not using an antenna, I don't know if I really need any sharper image for extra cost. So I'm satisfied with the "Deluxe" but wouldn't rule out upgrading to the "Expert" if the price comes down.

Hope this helps and doesn't further confuse you.

PS: Yes you can burn the shows you record with the tv tuner cards onto CD or DVD. Keep in mind that to capture
video at higher resolutions you need a more powerful PC, so make sure you got a fast hard drive and cpu, etc.

Thanks for the response. I just ordered the Expert from Newegg.

How can i prevent dropped frames? When I try to capture as DIVX, i have sync problem, "audio drift". The audio slowly drifts further and further out of sync, due to dropped frames.

I also have problems with dropped frames with mpeg2 files. I dont have a problem viewing the files after capture, but when I try to author them to DVD, this causes sync problems.

What program can i use to view how many dropped frames I have in a file?

If anyone can give me any tips, that woudl be great. Thanks.

Also, here are some screenshot caps. I wish I could get a better picture...

I'm thinking about using either the deluxe or the expert for capturing from an 8mm tape will there be a difference in capture quality between the 8bit deluxe or the 10bit expert?

according to a reviewer on Newegg, here is the difference between the Expert and Deluxe:

"Picture quality on playback of encoded is better than my deluxe version i had, Picture will be no different on live viewing. the 8 bit and 10 bit is encoding quality."

So if you are using the card primarily for live viewing, according to the reviewer, you won't see any difference in picture quality. But if you record and playback, you will notice improved picture quality over the Deluxe.

hope this helps...

stockjock: I'm pretty sure you can do that. I have a VCR hooked up to my card and can record from VHS to computer, and you can also record output from camcorders connected to the VCR also.

By the way, the "EXPERT" version is now selling on Newegg for $53, and the "DELUXE" is a couple of dollars more I think, so
if you're in the market for one of these right now, the "EXPERT" might be the better deal. Otherwise, wait for the "DELUXE" or "EXPERT" to drop to around $46.00 again. It will happen.

I'm not seeing the DELUXE on Newegg's site at all now, but it is available at MWAVE for $45 + S/H

I connected my cabletv cable to the vcr antenna/cable 'in' connector, and then used the 'out' connector to connect
to the leadtek deluxe's antenna/cable 'in' connector. Then I just can turn to video mode or channel 3 to see the vhs
output.

hope that helps

btw, the "deluxe" version is no longer on Newegg, looks like the Expert is going to replace it.

You might get a better picture from VCR by using the composite, RCA jacks, though an adapter (dual male RCA to male sterero 3.5mm phone plug) would be needed for audio.

OK, I'm having a problem with the "video" button on my TV2000 remote not working... It seems to have stopped working after I upgraded to the latest drivers and WinFast PVR software... now, when I push the button, the tv window just flashes
for a second. I don't get the option for video1, video2, etc., anymore. Anyone know why this is? Thanks

I got another question... anyone been able to use TWO of TV2000 cards in the same PC to view two channels simultaneously? If so, did you just use a "Y" cable from their audio-outs to the soundcard's audio-in? Did that work okay?

I would expect that to cause problems. Likely the application wouldn't be able to be set for one or the other card, you couldn't use both. Also, the higher preferred method of displaying the video is using the video card's overlay feature, which IIRC, can only do one card.

If you were willing to suffer the performance penalty of not using an overlay on one of the cards, you might have better luck using two different (manufacturer's) cards, with two different applications, though I don't know if your OS will handle that either. In other words, it's probably easier and better to just use a second PC & monitor... that has worked for me though I hardly ever use both, usually only if I want to record one thing while watching another while using PC instead of watching a real TV... a scenario that doesn't happen very often.

As for the remote button, video selection problem from your previous post, I would just reinstall the older, working version of the app, try it, then driver too if still not working.

I am a student and just ordered my first computer and just bought this Leadtek winfast deluxe. Don't know a thing about tv tuner cards and was wondering which is better, Dscaler software or the original software that comes with it? I saw somewhere on here that dscaler is pretty good.

I was impressed by the simplistic easy of using DScaler. I bought a ProLink card and was having difficulties installing the drivers and getting the apps to run. DScaler just worked.
