I've had this card for a while now. I've watched lots of TV on it but not done much else. I've never upgraded the drivers or anything.

Anyway, I recently move it to another computer. It works, but I can't control volume on it (or mute it) from the PVR software any more. My sound card is the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. Any ideas?

With my PVR-250 (not promoting it, only promoting hardware encoding) I only use a few % CPU while recording and watching video. This is really important if you want your computer to do something else while its doing the TV thing. I can be burning a DVD, recording a show, and playing halflife 2 without my computer coming to a halt. Some of you guys setup dedicated boxes, but anyone who plans to use their computer while it works may want to forego the software encoding cards. Oh yea, the other benefit is my audio NEVER gets out of sync from the video. How the hell you could be happy with that I dont know.

The PVR 250 is HIGHLY overrated IMO. After owning my 2000XP for over a year, I bit on a good deal for the PVR250. The software for that program sucked extremely bad, and some 3rd party aps I tried weren't much better. It was entirely restrictive. I returned it after a week and went back to my Leadtek XP 2000. Also, my audio is always in sync with the video.

Also, just as hardware DVD decoders became obsolete, so will hardware TV tuners. They are already obsolete for me as my moderate 2500+ Athlon /512mb is able to run the software just fine and it doesn't stop me from being able to do anyting else I need to do at the same time.

I got the MyHD 120 and am very pleased with it. Sold both my Winfast TV2000XP's. Digital is great, no noise. The downside on the digital, at least so far as the MyHD card is concerned (but I suspect it's so with other cards) is that channel changing is slow when you go to a digital station. However, even analog stations look much better using the MyHD. I don't get all the noise I used to see with the Winfast cards. The card is steep, though, compared to the Winfast. The MyHD supports HDTV. There's a ton of stuff at AVS Forums to help you decide on the digital card. That's exactly where I would go. Good luck.

It's still a very good card. At this time, I'd look at getting the Expert over the Deluxe for slightly better image quality due to the newer chipset it uses. But for even better quality and lower CPU utilization (though less format flexibility (mpeg2 only)) I'd look into a hardware instead of software-based decoder card like the Avermedia M150 (~$60) or the Hauppauge PVR-150 (~$63).

Hey guys...

Anybody having problems with slow response from the remote?

I had to rebuild my computer last week and I decided to finally upgrade to the very latest release of the Winfast PVR software (and drivers). But I've found that the remote response with the new software lags; if you press a series of buttons, some of them arent received. Sometimes I'll be scanning channels with the channel up button, and then decide to go to channel 26. When I press '2' and then '6' it doesn't receive some of the remote commands. Generally, the new software seems to just miss some of the commands altogether.

Things that can be ruled out (@ least I think):

1. Girder interference (I have this problem even with Girder closed).
2. Winfast Wizard IS loaded in the system tray.
3. IRQ conflicts: the tuner is on a PCI slot that is only shared with Gigabit Lan (which has been disabled). Also, I checked the IRQ channels from the Windows device manager and disabled any devices that shared the same channel. Any Leadtek related stuff has its own channel and is not shared.
4. Remote/Batteries/IR sensor: everything is plugged in correctly. I have two remotes both with new batteries and both exhibit this problem with the new PVR software. On the 3030 release of this software (March 2003) I did not have this problem. Also Girder picks up all commands without fail. The IR sensor is working fine and can pick up signals from 15+ feet so its not that either.
5. Windows XP SP2: I remember having this problem before when I was running SP1 only, but I didn't make anything of it because I preferred the old 3030 version of the software anyway.

You can click on my profile link to see my system config for more info. Leadtek's support site does have information on this problem, but it simply says check IRQ conflicts, which I have checked thoroughly (http://www.leadtek.com.tw/eng/support/faq.asp?faqlineid=22).

Anyone else seeing these problems with the newer PVR software?
