Does it matter if it doesn't find that driver "newer"? I mean, you can still install it.

On another note, occasionally I'm still seeing these cards as refurbs for 'round $29 delivered, like >right now<. Would it be bad form to post these when i see them or not?

I got the "expert" version at Newegg and love it! However, i noticed i couldn't do anything else on the pc while i was using it to record so ordered the Hauppauge 250. I put the Leadtec in my pc in the bedroom and just use it for watching tv on the monitor and recording....since i'm not doing anything else on this pc. The Hauppauge uses the card itself instead of software (leadtek) for the recording and the cpu usage is minimized alot.

if i understand what your talking about, i believe you just select "have disk" and direct it to the folder with the drivers you want to overwrite with. but i didnt read everything, so i dont know if this is what youre looking for

Ditto. I'm incredulous of how soft WinXP has made everyone... BillyG has you mesmerized.

For those who's been comparing Asus TV Tuner (880, not the crappy FMTV), obviously, you've not seen the quality of TV880!

It's far superior than Leadtek (not to mention the awesome SW package)

I am not sure if anybody has experienced this problem before (this thread is way too long) but if anybody could help, I would appreciated it.
I tried to install the driver for the card according to the instruction but every time I reboot, windows' new hardware found message still pop ups. It looks like the driver didnt properly install according to the yellow question marks in device manager window.
I tried switching the pci slots, removing and reinstalling the software but still the same results.
Thanks in advance.

Has anyone managed to associate .mpg files with the Winfast PVR? I've tried everything I can think of. Best I get is with the WFTV.EXE program and it doesn't play the file, just live TV.

Download the drivers then unzip them to a folder. Go to the device with the yellow exclamation and choose update driver (or install driver, whatever). Point it to the unzipped folder and things should install.

Refurbs $29 while they last
I have an extra Deluxe. I got it for my other PC, but the Winfast Deluxe TV2000XP card doesn't work so hot in that PC. It has something to do with that PC, because both of my Winfast Deluxe TV2000XP cards have the same problem in that PC (it won't shut down without a reset). That is to say, there's nothing wrong with the card AFAIK. It's just like my other card. I pulled it so the box shuts down normally. The refurbs in the link say "barebones", however I can and will supply you with the full monty - box, manual, connecting cables, everything that came with it. PM me if interested.

Edit: The Newegg refurb has the following note.
- - - -

The pictures shown are from the NEW version of this item. If you purchase this refurbished product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE, meaning it is just the item itself. Accessory items are NOT INCLUDED with refurbished products. Accessories are shown in the pictures so that customers will know what is missing from the item.

If you get it from me, you will get everything that came with the new one, yeah even the retail box.

one question. i do NOT play games, only video editing, do i need a new video card for my new d3ll 4600 2.8G 800Mhz 512 ram
if i need one, ti4600 or ti4200 should be enough, what's the difference between the 2

Using this card and/or video editing doesn't require a fast video card. TI4200 is even overkill without any need for gaming. Any modern integrated video or an old ATI Rage Pro, nVidia TNT, Voodoo3, etc, will be plenty fast enough. In other words your choice of cards would be based on (some other issue than capture or editing). Keep in mind I make no guarantees about SIS video, I wouldn't touch it with a stick.

I'm new to this post. Can someone tell me the differences between the 3 models (expert, deluxe, basic)?

Mine is due for delivery today. I hope everything works out ok but at that price it's not much of a gamble.

Download VirtualDub-MPEG2 It will allow you open and edit your MPEG2 file. BUT, you can't use the Direct Stream Copy option for the video which means it will be uncompressed = large file. You can specify a codec to compress to though. Of course recompressing is lossy.

My recommendation, if you need to edit your caps often, don't cap them to MPEG, use AVI instead. MPEGs are really hard to edit. I looked at another tool, although it was easy to use, it only saved the audio not the video, useless.

And when you cap to AVI, compress it to DIVX or XVID rather than uncompressed, then you won't have such a huge file. You can get free versions of both of those codecs.
