now I'm gonna have Picture in picture...jeesh!
PIP mode only works when you're watching something you recorded; you can't watch two TV channels at the same time.

In regard to the All In Wonder 7500 versus getting a good video card and seperate tuner card, get a good video card and a seperate tuner card. The ATI AIW 7500 is the bottom of the barrel for this type of all in one card. i have recently been torn with this dilema myself and have decided to get a good Ti 4200 graphics card and this tuner card, which would probably do for me if I was buying one now, but it may have to come a little later. I would only buy the ATI 9700 AIW if I was buying a one card solution. Having seperate cards makes it nice if you have problems later with one, or if you want to upgrade later.

If you buy one of these, don't install the drivers. Instead get the free dscaler program from http://www.dscaler.org/ and use that instead. The user-interface is not fancy, but the scaling and de-interlacing algorithms are top-of-the-line and will give the highest possible picture quality out of the capture card - no other software even comes close.

i bought it at $64 like 3 months ago...

Great TV Tuner card...

My brother has the WinTV Go...and its a fair tv tuner card in comparison to the TV2000XP...then again, his $20 model doesnt have an FM tuner or SVideo in...

The Software is wonderful...easy to capture pictures and video...easy to customize channels...supports a MULTITUDE of capture formats, both for video and pictures (SVCD, PAL DVD, NTSC DVD, Mpeg2, AVI, etc.......jpeg etc)...
As well as choice of capture size (up to 640x480)

The svideo is worked quite well, then only thing i could try it out with was my TV out on my GF2Ultra...it was pretty cool running the TV software viewing the output of the monitor...i was able to do that while running TV Tool 6.8 (which supports the viewing for the TV and Monitor, which at that point it sets the monitor res to 640x480).

I have a video of the end result... Video ...the pans of going to a full black screen is when i pressed the full screen button my remote ...

The FM is nice too...does autoscan with specific sensitivites...at highest sensitivity in NYC i got like 40 radio stations...most of which were complete static, but the software somehow picked up something...the fm software has nice recording too...

The remote is nice...has an IR sensor that ive used up to 20ft at most so far...the limits of the room im in is 25 ft, so i really havent tested it past that. THe most common issue among users is that first time usage after installing the software is that the remote wont turn ON the software, but will work after ON and will turn it off...it somehow cures itself in time...

Great card, great drivers, great software...i recommend it...note: drivers on site same as on CD provided.

All that remains is figuring out how to get that stupid FM software to work again, it keeps crashing...

I may be wrong, but I don't think the winfast does stereo; AIW and many others do. That would be a problem if using this as part of an entertainment center, as I do with my AIW based system.

Definitely, just use composite (yellow) in or S-video in if your vcr supports it.

I have a G400, the included winfast PVR crashes every time I launch the program. I downloaded the latest beta version of the winfast PVR for winxp. it stoped the crash but it only worked once. I have to turn off the dual head feature to make it work. don't buy this if u plan to watch TV on the 2rd monitor. I also tried dscalar, it won't work with dual head at all, black screen on the 2rd monitor.

Okay, this might be a dumb question, but:

can I connect my myriad of gaming consoles up to my computer and play them on my monitor with this card? I've been looking for a good card/tuner, and I hope this is it. My friend has some other tuner, though has had ugly problems with it.

Time to blow some x-mas cash

Yes, however, if you are using composites (yellow, red, and white wires), you would need an adapter to connect the yellow or video cable to the s-video input. Since this card doesn't have a audio input, you would need to get maybe an adapter to connect the red and white wires to the Line In of your sound card.

Humm...

I've got an Audigy (bought oem) soundcard, and then chaintech gf4200 video card.
Are necessary adapters available at radioshack or somewhere cheaper?

Will this card work with DirecTV? I've heard the remote will not work with a satellite system.

Thanks,
RandyH

You don't need to buy any adapters. The TV card interfaces your GF4 through the PCI/AGP bus using video overlay. Sound is sent via a provided 1/8'' mini to 1/8'' mini cord that goes from the stereo out of the tuner card to the line in (mic) of your Audigy.

You don't need any adapters for video-in unless you want to hook up multiple gaming consoles to the system at one time. Then you would want to look into a console switch which would let you externally select the video feed via the switch. The card comes with an S-video-in and RCA-in(yellow composite video) adapter.

Again, if you want to play consoles on your TV monitor, use S-video if you can and also look into Dscaler. The image will be quite poor if you only use composite video. You will need to hook up your sound directly to a receiver it looks like, as I don't see a place to input sound.

This is a great value card, however, I think the Asus TV880 is the best card under $100. More features, newer 10bit encoder/decoder, larger software suite, and more inputs.

Just input from the S-video and use the sat receiver remote. There is an interface between sofware and certain receivers, but if you just want remote operation, use the original remote.

Here is a good Sat reciever remote interface.

I'm thinking about replacing my non-deluxe model with this one since it has Stereo sound.

However, I've heard that stereo sound only applies to FM channels...and not TV channels. Is this true?

Anyone have more info on the Asus TV Tuner card? I can only find shentech.com as carrying the item, but they are out of stock at this time.

Where can I find about the Asus TV880? I did a google search and nothing showed up. Nothing on the Asus site. I did find the TV-in-a-box, but it doesn't look like a grpahics card.

I would like a PCI card(My motherboard does not have an AGP slot) to record TV shows. This Leadtek card looks nice, but would like to compare to others.

Also if I copy a 2 hour VCR tape to my HD to burn to a CD, does it take 2 hours? If so, can I use my computer in the mean time, or is it best to find something else to do? Is it really easy to do?

Thanks corinthos for the deal.

Chizow, I was pointing out you can't just connect the video wire directly into an s-video in. Some cards come with the composite to s-video adapter, some don't.

I have the Happuage TV-D card. I used an svideo-to-composite to connect the video/yellow wire from my x-box, then my card has a wire that connects to the line in of my TB sound card. Then there is another adapter where I connect the audio wires (red, white) from my X-box.

Asus TV 880 TV tuner $85 shipped at Newegg

There was an extensive review of this card at Overclockers.com/au, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I've been using it for about a month now and it is excellent, much better than any of the value cards in the past. I was considering the Leadtek XP2000, but from reviews, I read it was basically the same cards from Pinnacle/WinTV/ATi based on CX878 with a few more features and better WinXP/Win2K drivers. I had some bad experiences, so I didn't leave anything to chance and went with the newest card for under $100.

The software is all Cyberlink, top-notch stuff including the latest version of PowerDVD 4.0 (rebadged as AsusDVD). I purchased this card based on the OC.com australia review as well as JeSpre's original review found here on AT:

TV 880 ATer Mini-Review

Its about $30 more, but peace of mind was worth it IMO (only $20 more when I got it).

I just jumped in on this. Thanks. Have been thinking of getting this card for a few months now. I do a lot of FM --> MP3 recording and suppose I can get my signal this way instead of having to have my receiver on (a hassle). If I like this enough, I may get another for my other system. I also have some SVHS tapes I'd like to digitize. Being able to view TV on my computer monitor is something I'd like to try. I already record SVHS tapes - time shifting, but if this gives similar results that would be cool. I'm trying to imagine the advantage of a remote. What do you use it for? If you are at your computer, why do you want a remote?

Does this use the same antenna for FM as for TV?

I got some ideas on this card from this now-archived thread at anandtech.

Happy holidays!
