The remote comes in handy so if your sitting at a small distance from the screen you could use it. It is useful for me because it saves desk space for my by not having a TV and instead I can use my monitor for one.

I finally got around to installing this card BUT everytime I try to install it it crashes. I have WIndows XP Pro, an EPOX 8RDA+ MB, and this is the first problem I have encountered - and its a major one.

It starts to install and now is crashes at the point it is trying to install the ".... crossbar MDM" - evertime. It crashes so my windows shot down and reboots.

I did get it to work after using the downloaded new drivers to install BUT they do not install everything. Even got the FM and TV to work but it would give me an error message each time I closed it down.

I have cleaned my system with Norton, uninstalled the entire hardware (physicaly), deleted what programs would install, shut the PC all the way down, etc. I have run out of ideas and have been at it for 8 hours.

Any suggestions - ideas - questions????

HELP!

Thanks!!

EDIT: I also have an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro VC and disable ALL Norton stuff when I try to install. What kills me too is that it keeps trying to install the "....crossbar MDM" everytime I boot up too.....

Zettler - I think you should post Leadtek support a request for tech support. You can fill out an online form, including a region for "symptoms" where you can state your problem. Leadtek technical support request page

In the Symptoms text box, state that you are using the Winfast XP2000 Deluxe, and state the issues. AFAIK, there's no limit on the number of characters you can enter in the Symptoms text box.

I finally went in on this deal, and someone took it from my front door. Anyone have experience with newegg and shipping issues?

That sucks - time to find your neighbor who's watching TV on his PC.
I've had no shipping issues w/ newegg myself
They'll have to do a trace and then a claim on your shipment - whether your reshipment or refund happens immediately or is pending the results of the trace depends on the vendor - hopefully newegg we'll get you a reship/refund before the trace results (up to 8 business days)

Ouch ! Feel sorry for ya

Anyway, if you have NOT given FedEx explicit (and by that, I mean written) permission to leave packages at your front door in your absence, they are not supposed to do that. If this is the case, then you won't be out of any money ... but like Zak said, Newegg will have to file a claim with FedEx first ... and that'll probably take a little while.

However, if you in fact gave FedEx written permission to leave packages at your door, then I am sorry to say you are out of 55 bucks. You should still see if FedEx is willing to do anything about it, but chances are very slim.

Zettler:

I had the same problem with my system once I installed a 9700 Pro and formatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro. You can view my system specs in my signature. I finally did the following:

- Uninstalled all Winfast drivers and software
- Physically removed the card
- Rebooted
- Reinstalled the card
- Ran the latest setup software

Now everything works perfectly.

My card should arrive tomorrow. I know I can convert a VHS to DVD with this card, but can I take a DVD and rip it and convert/record it to a VHS tape? Reguardless I need to buy a VCR to convert some old VHS movies to DVD do I need to look for anything special when buying a VCR? I'll only be using the VCR to convert DVDs to VHS and hoping to beable to convert the other way around as well.

Thanks!

I did try all that - several times. It looks like I screwed up installing it the first time. I just cant figure out how to "Remove" the program. Its deleted within Windows as a folder but its got to be somewhere....

Thanks!

Try regclean that can be found at downloads.com. It's a free utility put out by Microsoft that cleans orphaned files from your registry. Norton used to be very bad about leaving registry enties that would corrupt a reinstall, even after you uninstalled the program and deleted the left behind folder from the program files directory. This would allow a clean install that wouldn't use prior corrupted registry entries Norton left behind. Hope it helps,

RCraig

Thanks. I did do this and it appeared to have cleaned it all up. Then I made the big mistake of updating the new Mother Board's drivers! Now it crashes every time it starts to finish loading Windows XP and it cant find a point that Windows XP Pro can restore to....

Looks like I will try to enter safe mode AGAIN tonight and hope that I can load something (the original drivers) from the CD driver disk that came with the EPOX 8RDA+ board. If this doesn't work, then its back to redoing the whole da*m system again.

My first real "experience(s)" at overclocking...

I didn't see this question asked in this thread yet (489 posts...yikes) but is this any kind of upgrade to an ATI TV Wonder? I'm liking the remote on this Leadtek unit.....but so far that's all I'm seeing. Anybody who has owned both or has any other thoughts please post your opinion...thanks.

If you have the V(alue)E(dition) - as I do - you'd be upgrading to stereo sound at the very least

Thanks geckojohn. Just installed my new board and a old 1.4 T-Bird should have it running tomorrow. Then I'll throw the card in.

Thanks guys and gals for all the advice on correcting my problems installing this card. However, after the latest problem with my new PC, and not being able to restore it AFTER I installed the latest drivers FROM EPOX for my new 8RDA+, I decided to give up and start all over while I had very little installed/invested...

Lost some email (Da*n), but with a clean install and orderly installation of all new Windows XP files, drivers and software for all the devices already installed, I believe I can get this up and running by tomorrow. I am downloading updated drivers and copying them onto a CD just in case and will do a system backup onto a CD or DVD once the primary system is finshed.

Right now, its just at 4G total on C-drive and I only have a few more applications to install UNTIL I reach the point I feel comfortable trying to install the WINFast Video card. I know enough technical stuff to get by and can follow directions (when I read them) but am prone to trying to take shortcuts when I am unsure of the ramifications if and when things go wrong.

The Basics to many of you more senior/experienced members are most likely very technical to people like me. Heck, I couldn't even figure out how to "create a Windows XP startup disk," as I had always made one with Windows 98 SE with no problems. Had to do a couple of Google searches just to find out the complicated way of making one that "might" work.

So after several extended attempts to fix my corrupted system (it wouldn't/couldn't find a restore point that worked), the simplest thing to do seemed to me was formatting the hard drive (NTFS), reinstalling Windows XP Pro, and then updating it all, and installing first all the old and then the new drivers. Almost there but still have some work to do and WILL WRITE it ALL down, so I can recall what versions are where, etc....

Once again, thanks and I will report back when I get to the point I either screw up again or need additional assistance.

Anyone actually get titantv to work with the winfast PVR software? I can save the files to my desktop then double click them and make it schedule it, but I cant make it open directly from the website.
