Thanks guys and gals for all the advice on correcting my problems installing this card. However, after the latest problem with my new PC, and not being able to restore it AFTER I installed the latest drivers FROM EPOX for my new 8RDA+, I decided to give up and start all over while I had very little installed/invested...
Lost some email (Da*n), but with a clean install and orderly installation of all new Windows XP files, drivers and software for all the devices already installed, I believe I can get this up and running by tomorrow. I am downloading updated drivers and copying them onto a CD just in case and will do a system backup onto a CD or DVD once the primary system is finshed.
Right now, its just at 4G total on C-drive and I only have a few more applications to install UNTIL I reach the point I feel comfortable trying to install the WINFast Video card. I know enough technical stuff to get by and can follow directions (when I read them) but am prone to trying to take shortcuts when I am unsure of the ramifications if and when things go wrong.
The Basics to many of you more senior/experienced members are most likely very technical to people like me. Heck, I couldn't even figure out how to "create a Windows XP startup disk," as I had always made one with Windows 98 SE with no problems. Had to do a couple of Google searches just to find out the complicated way of making one that "might" work.
So after several extended attempts to fix my corrupted system (it wouldn't/couldn't find a restore point that worked), the simplest thing to do seemed to me was formatting the hard drive (NTFS), reinstalling Windows XP Pro, and then updating it all, and installing first all the old and then the new drivers. Almost there but still have some work to do and WILL WRITE it ALL down, so I can recall what versions are where, etc....
Once again, thanks and I will report back when I get to the point I either screw up again or need additional assistance.
