That's pretty much the point of Nautilus. He's supposed to bring a lot of CC to the fight. If he had damage on top of that he'd be OP. Much like Leona.

Yea I realize that much but it makes it hard to pick him in solo queue since your teams potential is a mixed bag and Naut is not a character you can carry with.

Damn this thread hasn't been posted in for almost two weeks!

New patch today introducing a new support champion: Lulu, the Fae Sorceress.

Code:
New Skins in the Store

    Bittersweet Lulu
    Wicked Lulu

League of Legends v1.0.0.136
Lulu, the Fae Sorceress

Pix, Faerie Companion (Passive) - Pix fires magical bolts of energy whenever his owner attacks another enemy unit. These bolts are homing, but can be intercepted by other units.
Glitterlance - Pix and Lulu each fire a bolt of magical energy that heavily slows all enemies it hits. An enemy can only be damaged by one bolt.
Whimsy - If cast on an ally, grants them movement speed and ability power for a short time. If cast on an enemy, turns them into an adorable critter that can't attack or cast spells.
Help, Pix! - If cast on an ally, commands Pix to jump to an ally and shield them. He then follows them and aids their attacks. If cast on an enemy, commands Pix to jump to an enemy and damage them. He then follows them and grants you vision of that enemy.
Wild Growth (Ultimate) - Lulu enlarges an ally, knocking enemies away from them and granting them a large amount of bonus health. For the next few seconds, that ally gains an aura that slows nearby enemies.

Blitzcrank

    Rocket Grab
Damage increased to 80/135/190/245/300 (+1.0 ability power) from 60/120/180/240/300 (+0.8 ability power)
Mana cost reduced to 110 from 140

Fiora

Fixed a bug where Fiora could consume the second cast of Lunge on the original target while still moving toward the original target.

Garen

Fixed a bug where Demacian Justice would not finish casting if Garen lost vision of the target during the cast

Irelia

    Hiten Style
Passive health restore reduced to 5/7/9/11/13 from 10/14/18/22/26
While active, health restore doubles to 10/14/18/22/26
Transcendent Blades cooldown increased to 70/60/50 seconds from 60/50/40

Janna

Eye of the Storm Attack Damage bonus is now lost if the shield breaks

Jax

Health per level increased to 98 from 88
Counterstrike area of effect radius increased to 375 from 350
Grandmaster's Might (New Active): Jax gains 25/35/45 (+30% of his bonus attack damage) armor and 25/35/45 (+20% of his ability power) magic resist for 8 seconds. 100 mana, 80 second cooldown.

Olaf

Updated Ragnarok's buff tooltip to reflect it now grants Armor and Magic Resist instead of flat damage reduction

Orianna

Now has improved targeting displays for her spells

Rammus

Right clicking on an enemy while using Powerball will now move you close enough to hit the target
Base armor reduced to 20.8 from 24.8
Base attack damage reduced to 53.5 from 58.8

Riven

Fixed a bug where Riven could get locked out of moving during her third cast of Broken Wings

Soraka

Re-timed Starcall's animation to sync better with Soraka's actions

Veigar

Fixed a bug where Event Horizon stopped stunning units if Veigar died

Viktor

    Power Transfer

        +36 Magic Resist
Unique Passive: +1 Attack Damage for every 2.5% health missing.

They nerfed my Irelia. Those bastards.

Also the Jax change is retarded. His issue was that he lacked both damage AND tankiness. At the very least you could go tanky and rely on the ult to get some damage out. Getting some extra resist changes nothing about how you build him.

Also, Viktor buff, where the hell is it.

Haven't been playing at all in a few weeks. Working on other projects.

Too fed up with the trolling and the constant character and gameplay changes. They've went back and forth on the same characters for over a year, while adding new ones almost every other week. It just gets old. It's one long beta test. I considered breaking it out last night, then read the patch notes and said to hell with it. There are many people who agree and think the game focus has drifted too much by the devs.

Hate Irelia nerfs. Massive sustain nerf.

The funny thing is though the new items is going to massively OP on tanky dps chars while being designed in mind for squishy melee dps.

New meta frmatmaws/atwarmaws Over 100 free ad (in addition to the 55 base) for building hp lol

I love this patch. Irelia needed nerfs. She was literally the only top lane that you could pick without being afraid of counters. That's dumb. She probably needs more nerfs. But this is a good start. Her W as a skill is just broken.

I think the Jax change was good, I play Jax every now and then. He's pretty solid and gets good damage with an AD build. This allows him to jump into things and live. Which is what he needs.

And please dear Jesus no Victor buffs. Me and Prizmm play with him on occasion. He's broke as fuck. He is quite literally the highest damage AP caster bar none. No one puts out as much burst as him. He's probably OP as is, just underplayed like Cassiopia was for the longest time.

IMO Irelia can be countered. Her early game dmg prior to a few levels in W is very weak. If she dies once in lane it's very hard for her to come back unless the other champ is inherently weaker than her.

You want uncounterable you pick udyr.

Udyr is an easier counter in my book then Irelia. Udyr is nice because he farms well in lane, and is close to impossible to push out, but you can pick champs who scale harder and win late. A good Irelia though will let stronger lanes push her to tower where she can still last hit with Q and live there until shes stronger then everyone come level ~7. Not many tops scale as well as a farmed Irelia and probably only Nasus/Poppy/Trynd scale harder. Wits End/Tri Force/Randuins Irelia is a carry diving machine.

So you think that a character that has insane lifesteal, and damage buff,a speed buff, and a spammable shield is an easier counter than Irelia, a champion that really only has sustain going for her.

I don't think we're playing the same game.

Also, Viktor is severely underpowered. Even Riot admits it, and they're going through some massive revisions with him and probably completely changing his style because no one plays him. He sucks.

Jax is underpowered. He contributes almost nothing to a team. He isn't very tanky, he doesnt have good damage or utility. More tanky means nothing, if he doesnt do that much damage in the first place.

I am SO glad they're fixed Rammus's powerball. I don't know how many times I had a failed gank or something because he would roll UP to them but not INTO them. Clicking beyond the champion was a stupid, unnecessary workaround, and I'm glad it's fixed.

I'm also buying Lulu as soon as I can. She looks fun as hell to play.

yeah I think that was the best part of the patch. they also dropped the prices on two more champions to 4800 IP (Vlad and someone else). This is the second time they've done an IP reduction on a champ I bought 2 weeks ago. =(

Any thoughts on Lulu? The spotlight looked fun but I didn't have a chance to play yesterday.

I like the idea behind Lulu. I don't hate the idea of support champions, but I do hate the current meta and the ridiculous power of *healer* support champions.

Lulu, afaik, doesn't have the spammable heals of taric/sona/soraka, so maybe she will help push us into a more interesting metagame.

That said, I don't have the IP to buy her nor the desire to pay for riot points, so I won't get a chance to try her for a few weeks.

Lulu is fun. Her Q is a bit hard to use, as you can't directly control her little companion that shoots the 2nd bolt. Lining up Lulu's bolt is easy enough, but you can do some pretty crazy things with that 2nd one. Thankfully, it appears the bolts are wider than their skill shot graphic indicates. It also appears to travel through anyone it hits instead of stopping on collision. Nice.

I'm still trying to figure her out. Only had a chance to play her in a Co-op vs. AI game and a HORRIBLE normal match. She seems like she could be very useful, though.

I like that she is full of CC or buffs for allies.

What I saw yesterday was people jungling Lulu...

A support jungle? Granted I was only watching streams, but I was surprised. I only got the chance to play one game and was trolled pretty hard Didn't help I grouped with 2 people who were only so-so. 2 so-so and 2 trolls = impossible game to win.

As far as the changes go, they seem mostly right to me. Jax was banned in every high elo game I saw last night so I wasn't able to see how the changes worked out for him, but I'm guessing they fixed his problem. His problem was since the rework that you couldn't build for any sort of damage without being insta-popped in team fights. He takes a few hits to actually start dishing out decent damage in team fights. But you couldn't live that long to dish that damage out. But if you built tanky, then you were mostly ignorable because he didn't have any damage output really if built tanky.

So the change now allows him to build for damage while still being somewhat tanky. That is how the old jax worked. The difference is the old jax went up with massive health by building dps. The new jax just goes up with resistances. Health has no cap, while resistances has a soft cap with huge diminishing returns after a point. So he's now tanky again when building for damage so he should be able to dish out some damage in team fights without being insta-popped.

Do any of you play Shyvana regularly? I'm curious to see how people build and play her. She's one of my favorite champs currently. I've never played a real game as a jungle (sad, I know), so I usually play her solo top or bot.

Currently, I start with a Regrowth Pendant. I then build Mercury Treads, Trinity Force, Warmogs, Atmas, Wits End, and Frozen Mallet. When building Trinity Force, I start with Phage and do Zeal second. Sometimes I will wait to finish my Mercury Treads until I have my Phage.

For runes, I go with attack speed marks (+15%), armor seals (+13), magic resist glyphs (+13), and armor pen quints (+10). For masteries, I go 21/9/0 with a focus on armor, magic resist, and health regen in the defense section. The offense section is a fairly standard AD setup.

She starts a bit slow, but I've found if I can farm well (which I almost always do), she snowballs fairly quickly. Even if I don't do well in a game, she is still a force to be reckoned with. This build gives me around or over 4000 health, 250+ attack damage, somewhere around 1.3-1.5 attack speed, and somewhere between 125-150 armor and magic resist. I don't remember all the numbers exactly. Those stats are pretty terrifying if you can play her well, IMO, and the build isn't TOO expensive.

Fun times! I just can't get enough of beating people up with her.

i usually see her in the jungle - people get merc treads, wriggles, and phage and build from there.

she doesnt need too many items to be really powerful.

I only use Shyvana in the jungle really, she's a decent top laner but her jungle speed is so insane I see no real reason to use her elsewhere.

My item order is typically dependent on what the enemy team runs, but I either open with boots + 3 hp pots or a vamp scepter if I know I can't gank and just wan't to run the jungle asap. Wriggles + boots 1 is all she needs in terms of jungling, from there I debate between Wits End and Frozen Mallet. FM is expensive as all hell, but having a Wits End and doing a ton of damage doesn't help when everyone can just stun and run from you.

Anyways my end build is usually Mercs, Wits End, Frozen Mallet, Wriggles, Atmas, with the last item supplementing whatever resist I'm low on.

Has anyone used the Maw of Malmortius effectively yet? I've only gotten to build it on Olaf recently but my team is usually too derp for me to really use it. I can't really think of people that would use it well aside from Olaf and Mundo and maybe Volibear.

Shyvanna is a great top lane. She can push super hard. Which draws a lot of attention top, she can also 1v2 really well. Run ignite/heal and you can turn ganks into kills. Her and Renekton do that well. And Shyvanna with wriggles is great at pushing to tower and roaming through the jungle stealing all the shit. Start boots/3 or cloth/5, build into wriggles/phange/wits. Finish up with Frozen mallet, Atmas, Fon or something. Just spend your team fights diving carries.

Lulu is insane. Her raw CC is too good. She reminds me of what Lion was in Dota. With CDR she can permanently lock people down. She's a safer/better scaling Leona. She bring CC, maybe not the tank stats but her CC is pretty reliable and great for defending carries from dives as you don't have to commit to fights. Really good, I can see her replacing Nunu in a lot of lanes.

I don't know why, but I always do worse if I build Wriggles with Shyvana. As soon as I started building her as I mentioned above, I started doing well with her. Perhaps it just better fits my play style?

Well Wriggles gives her nice stats in top lane only if you're facing an ad (which most tops are) and you don't mind pushing the lane.

And yes that is the style of Shyvana top solo made popular by M5 I believe, and I've done it and its pretty effective. However just a few wards can turn that style into a massive problem, since if they know you're in their jungle they can easily surround you unless you invest in a lot of wards to drop all over their jungle as well.

I still prefer her as a jungler, insane clear speed, crazy high early game damage plus stupid high movespeed allows her to gank any lane with just 1-2 CC. She still has issues but she's one of my favorite junglers due to her overall strengths.

Also one reason you might have done better without Wriggles hans, is that it's a great item for what it does but if you're using Burnout to push the lane you don't get much healing done. That and it costs 1600 gold which is already a phage + some wards/potions. Since you avoid the item altogether, you get your hp items faster and earlier and with the regrowth you probably regen more over time in the lane, so perhaps because you have more hp and stay healthier that you tend to do better. And it probably does mesh better with your playstyle

You build wriggles to trade early and kill creeps. Wriggles with your q, because it can double proc, lets you take buffs insanely fast and lets you trade in lane.

If they are warding their own jungle you win. Just push the lane and b. Rinse and repeat. Or go man mode and oracles up.

Also, building Trinity and Mallet is a massive waste of gold. Build mallet and other stuff for damage stats.

I personally wouldn't even suggest building a T-Force on Shyvana as a good number of the stats don't really help her, and it's a very expensive item. I didn't even notice you were grabbing T-Force + Mallet till Firsttime pointed it out, and yeah that's a pretty large waste of gold.

And while you can just push and pull back to recall/push other lanes, I tend to try to bully my opponents out of top lane or deny them farm, pushing to the tower allows the majority of them to farm from complete safety for the most part. Works against some heroes though, like Rumble would have a terrible time if he was stuck trying to last hit at the tower. But the majority won't have any issues after their first trip back or getting to level 4-5.
