For the most part there really "isn't" a big deal about ksing, but SOME players reall do nothing but try and KS. It's the trying that pisses me off the most as it costs the team overall and could make it so the team loses. For example, many Karthus players always WAIT until the very last moment to kill the other person. It's one thing to secure a kill that may be getting away, but it's usually nicer for karthus to ult sooner rather than later. Ult hitting 5 people = FAR more damage than it hitting 1 or 2. I will say it does get frustrating being the range AD carry some games and going 0/3/15 or something stupid while your "support" has 8 kills or some such non-sense. that extra gold they have, especially if they have a support build, isn't as impactful late game as the AD carry would have been with 6 items instead. More so if the OTHER team's ad range carry does have their 6 item build already and got to it before your team's ad range carry only because other's kept making sure they got the kill.

But as far as the random crying of KSer if you take a kill, those are just kiddies. Again one kill is not going to change the outcome of the game. If you were intentionally doing it to your ad range and did it like 10 times, that would change the game. There is a difference.

I've had too many people rage quit over supposed KS's that if anyone even mentions that I KS'd I just let them die next time. When they bitch why I didn't help I just say "You had that, didn't want to KS you." Normally nips it in the ass quickly.

A guaranteed kill is much more important than standing there thinking someone is going to get a last hit and for some reason they don't.

Mayhaps they found out the source of the bugs I was seeing yesterday and fixed it. For those of you that weren't playing, many of the blink/leap abilities were bugging out getting people stuck in walls and such. The most noticeable one was probably Lee Sin, if he tagged you with Q there was roughly a 33% chance (from what I've seen) that when he activates the leap he just sits hanging in midair in the kick position. Then after a few seconds he'll just be on top of you no matter where you are and the damage will proc. Saved me once due to how the bug behaved and killed me about 5 other times

As for KSing, as others have said it's usually not a big deal. Only times I complain about it are when a support take a kill from me on a carry when there was no way that the target was going to get away safely and they burst him anyways, wasting their mana and my gold. Aside from that and ruining Pentakills I see no reason to complain as long as the enemy is dead and none of your teammates or you are. Oh and buffs too I suppose.

Figured I'd throw this out there in case you guys are interested.

Hi Rez Games (Tribes: Ascend and Global Agenda) are in the beta for their new 3rd Person MOBA called SMITE. It's the same game concept as DOTA/LoL but with an over the shoulder and FPS control scheme rather than isometric and typical RTS controls. Everything in game is a skill shot. All the "heroes" are gods from human mythology. So Ra, Kali, Odin, Hades, Anubis, etc. There are currently 15 to play with and another 7 or so known to be coming. Seems to be getting good reviews from the people I know playing it. I'm just hoping to grab a key/invite since LoL is always down these days.

I logged in when I turned on my system, even though I wasn't going to play for 12 hours, just so I didn't have to wait for the queue. First game, had to dodge, come back to a 4 hour queue. Just can't seem to get my first win of the day bonus.

So apparently Riot is giving 1000 RP to the people who had the missing content problem. Forums are frothing over because the vast majority of players didn't lose anything, and they want their free stuff. Its too bad I didn't lose anything, I only played like 4 games during that period.

Yeah, I don't get Riot's reasoning. Plenty of people were completely unable to play because of the servers being down and/or ridiculous login queue times. Last night the login queue was 5+ hours at one point. I think it was 3 on Thursday. Already today there's a queue forming, ~45 mins right now.

I don't understand why people with temporary loss of content are being treated any differently then the rest of us that are unable to access the same content.

Well I got a SMITE beta key so am going to give that a go. And to add to my previous post about it, it is basically following the same F2P model as LoL. Some gods free to access, you can unlock them via in-game currency, or use real money to buy gods and skins for them.

So anyone else get into the SMITE beta? Moba 3d game by HiRez. Played a couple of practice games and they were interesting. Game looks good at least.

i played Monday Night Combat (MNC) which is similar, but it just didn't stick with me. Fun game, but I think my League habit is too well ingrained

I actually enjoyed SMNC a decent amount, though it was difficult to get "better" as the matchmaking sucked. I either dominated the enemy team or they just dominated mine, there were few "even" matches. Expected with such a small playerbase though I guess, that's the big hurdle for a lot of MOBA/ARTS titles coming out now I think.

So the Lee Sin bug is still in play on the live servers, happens to some other champs too (Maokai comes to mind). Man did they make an absolute mess of their servers this time around though.

Yeah
If I "apparently" KS, i retort these days with, "Sorry, next time I'll let you die".

SMITE looks interesting, and very very similar to LOL, albeit in the 3rd person mode(very Wowesque), the trailer for which made me realise that some of the LOL chars are modelled around Greek mythology such as Nasus, Cassiopea, Pantheon..
It looks interesting. But i love LOL way too much to get into Smite. Lets see, if it gets rave reviews i'll jump on.

Btw how hard is it to jump to DOTA2 after playing LOL. COs i've never played DOTA before and i saw a few vids for DOTA2 and was blown away by the visuals. W
hich is the better game according to you guys?
P.S. I'll always be a faithful LOL player cos it's too much of an addiction to stray away from.

In terms of competitive balancing? I've always thought DOTA 2 was top dog there. In terms of which is easier and generally more enjoyable to play? I'm on the fence between DOTA 2 and League on this one. League's considerably easier to learn and fall into currently, however DOTA 2 has quite a lot planned to try and ease the learning curve although I don't think most of that is still in yet. DOTA 2 plays quite a bit differently though in the roles heroes are much more defined, a carry can only really be used as a carry, etc.

One thing that I can say people do like a lot more in comparison to LoL, is that in DOTA 2 if someone doesn't connect/ragequits you can just subsequently leave the game without penalty (though that does mean even if you could win 4v5, most people will just leave). Bear in mind this isn't just a standard disconnect, this is if someone leaves and joins another game/completely logs out.

i considered MNC to be a 3rd person LoL...

Most would say (S)MNC is a hybrid of class-based FPS and tower defense with a little bit of MOBA (you have four abilities to upgrade). I personally don't consider it anything like LoL/DOTA.

There's a lot of adjusting. You have the deny mechanic you have to employ (killing your own minions so your enemy doesn't get XP+gold). You have to recalibrate your threat range because there are plenty of abilities in game that can hit you from off screen. The pace of DOTA is slower in general than it is in LoL. There are a ton more items you can buy and some crazy active abilities. Mages don't scale into late game and pretty much just become CC. A good carry can single-handedly win the game. And of course, you have to learn each of the new heroes.

Well I still enjoy LoL, but I've been playing Smite now for a few days in a row. I'm quite liking the game. Very fast pace. VERY. Plays just like LoL but in 3rd person view. I've had games where I dominate. Games where my team mates feed, I barely if ever die, but still lose because of bad teammates. I've also had games that were very close.

The only thing I dislike about Smite is the LONG respawn timers late game. I think it's 2 minutes at max level. If 3 or more of your team dies stupidly late game it is pretty much game over.

There is also no summoner abilities you have, but you can get summoner like abilities by buying them as "items" in the game. Each ability is 500 gold.

Other than that the game is pretty easy to learn if you played LoL a little bit.

On what basis is the team paired in 5v5?? I've been having a series of games where i've come across people with disastrous win records with no skills whatsoever and characters just standing there doing nothing. And even though i'm playing well and usually the best by a huge margin, i'm losing the match thanks to these weirdos. So is the matchmaking random or is it based on something else?

For LoL? Matchmaking is based on ELO, you used to be able to check your normal ELO but that is no longer the case, although some sites like ELO Buff give you an estimated ELO for normals anyways. However the matchmaking algorithm is a bit complex as it treats a 4 man group of lesser players at a higher ELO than a single player that is individually higher rated than any member of the 4 man due to them being arranged. For this reason groups larger than 2 tend to mess up the skill level distributions for matchmaking.
