Any ranged or hero with decent sustain, especially ones that can kite.

This is accurate. Teemo & Yorick are the two most common but I've also seen a fair number of Swain's lately (he was recently buffed) and even Olaf seems to do well against him (gotta hit those axes). Kenen and Vlad also seem to do well and are always popular picks anyway.

I've run support Naut quite a bit recently, he has an incredible amount of CC, if you have a jungler like Nocturne its free kills down bot. I've been experimenting with maxing E first, huge slow and does a ton of base damage if you get multiple hits. The only problem I find with Blitz and Naut is if your carry is dumb you don't have the sustain of Soraka or something like Janna's ult to make a clutch save.

I've done well running running Kennen against Darius, pick up a revolver for sustain, get a Rylais' and build a Zhonya's.

Awesome thanks. I've been going w > q > e > w then R > w > e > q just like I do in jungle. The shield just makes you do so much more damage and makes you tanky as hell so it seems neigh indispensable.

So I've played Draven a bit. First thought: His ult is friggin awesome. I wouldn't go so far as OP, but it is amazing for picking off people running away with low health. I have a feeling they will eventually have to make some changes.

He seems to be a great pusher, but otherwise his Q is really kind of a pain to actually use in practice and any character going against him that can bump him off track (like Alistar, trist, etc) pretty much will screw him up.

Hey Terrible, did you get my messages I sent you while I was spectating your game and did you respond? I sent another friend a few while I was watching you and he says he got them and responded but I never saw his responses...just curious.

Yeap his Q is really hard to use properly but if you can get 2 of them going the damage output is quite crazy and his ult is hilarious.

Anyone else having fps issues since the patch? I had to lower everything and it still drops to really low frames during fights...

Not this patch. I turned some settings down in the graphics overhaul patch a few weeks back.

After getting some time in with Darius, my opinion is that he's an insanely ridiculous champion with terrible design. His Q does almost absurd amounts of damage and that refresh ult thing is ridiculous.

I have not been impressed with any Darius I've played with/against (mostly against), and that's the general consensus I'm seeing. He has no way to get into a fight quick or get out if needed. And he has no sustain or defense. So he's a more damaging Garen without an on-demand speed boost or the defense/sustain.

He's easily shut down in lane by any number of bad matchups. And if the matchup is in his favor, just let him push the lane and have your jungle gank. He'll have to blow flash or it's an almost guaranteed kill.

Example of why his design isn't that great. A ton of his output is simply dependent on range. As soon as you get into optimal range, a burst will put you down 1/3 to 1/2 down. Sustain comes from wriggles in lane and it doesn't really become a problem.

Also, simply not pushing the lane is extremely easy with him.

His sheer damage output is insane.

this new hero is weird, left unchecked he does a ton of damage, but it's so easy to push him out of the way by attacking and make him miss the catch then he basically turns into a autoattacker without much use.

Well a new (sort of) map is going to be coming in the next few patches, possibly the very next one. If any of you have done the tutorials for LoL, then you've played on The Proving Grounds as Ashe (just a really long bridge). They've decided to allow its use for custom games!

Similar to Dominion mode you'll start off at level 3 and naturally gain a large amount of XP and gold, health relics also spawn at positions on the map, recalling is disabled, specific items are enabled/disabled. The map has been visually touched up a bit as well as added objects (towers and inhibitors), also worth noting that the platform does not heal and you cannot buy items once you have left the base until you have died again (still has the laser from SR though). Currently playable on the PBE if anyone is too curious to wait for its debut on the live servers.

Also coming in the patch will be a bunch of re-done portraits/art for a large group of champions and a slightly new way of choosing Summoner Spells.

I've been loving jungle Noc - 1 loss out of 10, in which I was doing well but the typical can't carry the weight of the whole team. But the nerf to his passive heal is an impact to his jungle. I've been going boots + 3 start and before the nerf I could do a full jungle run and end up with about 1/2 health after red. After the nerf it's more like 1/5th and I usually recall to grab some LS which lets me then jungle indefinitely. I run him with MVSPD quints because being able to go 380 normally and 400+ on his trail makes his ganks that much stronger. But I supposed I can sacrifice that 4% extra MVSPD in favor of LS quints. I just have to get the IP to buy them.

Do your games with jungle noc typically play out fully or do they usually end in surrenders relatively quickly? I've found when I used to run Nocturne that once it passes the 35~40 minute mark of the game I have to have built so much in the way of tanky items otherwise I can't effectively initiate fights unless all of my lanes had been winning by large margins prior to forcing team fights. Great ganker though, especially at 6!

Noc is a fighter not a carry. He generally cannot hyper carry his team unless hes fed some ridiculous amount compared to the rest of the players.

I find MS quints un-needed on Noc. His trail ability combined with the phage that most Noc's buy and your fear make the extra 20 MS pointless.

Noc's an assassin. A lot of people expect Noc to continue initiating like he does early through mid game when you get to the team fight phase which I think is a bad expectation. Once you get there, you should have another tanky initiator (Naut, Malphite, Amumu, etc) that can initiate. Then Noc flies in when the team's attention is on blowing their CDs elsewhere and assassinate their back line fighters.

Sure you can build him very tanky and be able to initiate, but then he loses a lot of his potency. He can only lock down a single target.

I don't even go the Phage route. I'm carrying red buff up until the team fight phase (at least), at which point you don't need the slow as badly if your team is carrying more CC. Plus you're rocking a 490 speed on your trail so not much is going to escape you.

After doing out the math, MVSPD quints aren't quite as impactful on Noc because he hits the softcaps a lot easier with Duskbringer trail. So I'll probably buy up the LS quints and hold off on another champ purchase for now.

I wouldn't really say he's a strong assassin, and he typically is utilized as an initiator later on in the game as his Ult's denial of vision makes people typically panick and just start spamming abilities on the first target that comes into view (Nocturne).

You also listed tanky initiators that do this better than Noc, but all of them are also typically junglers which is no longer an option as you're doing that as Nocturne. Typically top laners and junglers are expected to be initiators/capable of initiation due to their innately tanky natures.

And I've been wondering how people feel about Draven a few days after his launch. I feel like picking up a new champ but I already own most of the champs I want, Draven is new-ish enough that I'm curious. Is he worth the pick-up? I tend to play top lane currently and while I use to play ad bot a LOT, I tend to find that a pretty boring lane nowadays :/

I don't know about that initiator bit but he is good for diving onto their carry without being peeled once teamfights start. The best Nocturn's I see don't initiate with ult since at best you usually just blow flash.

I never initiate with Ult. The flashes are too annoying.

However, I do love taking clairvoyance with Noct and using it to get kills when people run and hide. Its hilarious.

Noc is definitely not an assassin in the traditional sense of the word. He doesnt have burst that can take down carries instantly. Hes a fighter that has an amazing gap closing ult

I'd say that's the best description for him.

I still say he has a very strong initiation, he forces people to use something to prevent him from locking down a target and the fact that he can push 1 lane and then ult in lets him counter initiate very easily too.

Ooh, I'm stoked, I (admittedly) love reworked champion models, adds a level of freshness. Is the bridge map just gonna be 1v1 or what?

Also, a good lul on the Tribunal:

Also played my first ever time as Soraka, played draft mode with At3c and was gonna go Janna but the other team nabbed her early, grabbed Soraka and went 1/2/23. Really like her kit although I bought Taric two days ago so I'll have to see how I like him.

Riot is also removing ELO loss on dodges sometime in the next month. They reason that ELO is a measure of skill (haha) and a dodge should not have an effect on it. So they're removing it and are going to use a different, as of yet mysterious, form of punishment. I assume that will still be in addition to the dodge timer penalty.

They need to implement some sort of auto game throw when someone doesn't join the game (after char select). I get real tired of having to wait out 20 minutes because someone decided they didn't want to play AFTER char select. It happens way more than it should. (not counting afker's and leavers).

It's a full 5 on 5 map, only available as a Custom game, but you can use any mode you want (all random, draft, blind pick). Most people on the PBE just run it as all random though, I'm sure if you wanted you could find someone that's posted a video of it on YouTube by this point as well since we can share PBE knowledge/info openly. Or you could just sign up for an account yourself and take a sneak peek
