Just started doing the placement matches for ranked. Its like starting normal blind all over again. People don't know what junglers and supports are, some don't even last hit, people over extend and get ganked all day. I had no support last game, instead we had a Vlad with promote down bot who never bought any wards. My stats aren't too pretty right now, 3-4, my computer froze during one game and I got trolled by 2 mid in another though. I should just jungle Twitch every game, I see why that is such an effective way to win at this level...

Also, anyone play Morde, thoughts on him? I heard he's a stomper, I need a few more of those for these first 10 ranked games.

Duo queue with a friend if you can. That way you have one less point of failure on your team. Jungle and mid are probably the most influential roles in the average ELO range. You can initiate ganks, babysit the lanes that look like they're failing, ward up and ward hunt if you're doing well, etc. Mid can shove their lane into the tower and then go gank top/bot.

Morde is a good pubstomper. Jax is very strong (again) right now. Twitch likely would be a good choice because it sounds like players in your games wouldn't know how to pink ward and oracles to counter him.

From my experience with the ranked games from S1 and S2, the placement matches go beyond 10, closer to 15 or at least it was for me.

And crownjules' advice is the way to go if you're having trouble with your teammates in the placement bracket, those games are so wildly different in terms of player skills its funny. One of my placement games I had a BF Sword with Tristana by the 4 minute mark because I picked up so many kills from them coming at as 1 by 1 crown's recommendations for champs is good for the placement bracket too but there are plenty of other champs where if used well enough would just crush most placement matches like Riven and Lee Sin.

Had the most amazing game last night as Kog'maw. One of those few occassions where i got to complete a set (I'm only level 21 btw). Berserkers greaves, Malady --> Nashor's, Madred's BR, Phantom Dancer, Bloodthirster & Infinity edge. Melted them like butter.

Kog'maw is pretty IMBA if you have a good enough team.

I lol'd when I read the first response to the server issues thread:
"Ok.

The server will keep rejecting your patches until you give it one with Pulsefire Ezreal." It's been upvoted almost 5,000 times

But yeah this patch seems to have even more issues than they thought, not sure how they managed that considering they supposedly found the issues on Sunday. Mayhaps their "fix" actually broke more than it fixed.

As for Kog'Maw, he has insane damage output and range just no escape mechanic, so if your team can protect you well he's easily the scariest AD around (passive AS steroid, % life on hit + highest auto attack range in the game [not counting twitch since his ult = skillshots]).

Login or matchmaking? If it's log-in, I had a 3.5 hour queue time about 20 minutes after the servers went back up. Then my Adobe AIR client glitched so I had to wait another 2 hours

Tried to log back in to see whether there were some free RP thanks to the server outages, but couldn't since there was a 40 min wait and i needed to get to work.

So are they providing some free RP/IP?

This is one of those times I'll side with them and say, it's a free game. It being down is annoying, but allows me to do other things I've been putting off.

I wonder how they make so much money off of a free game? Micro-transactions aren't even new any more people. It's not like they are running the game out of the kindness of their hearts. I don't care that the game was down, I have other things I can occupy my time with, but I believe it is fallacious to dismiss problems with the catch-all 'it's free'.

No free RP/IP, as of yet at least. The people spreading those rumors on the forums were trying to trick people into relogging when the queue was four hours longs.

They make a crap load of money from the micro transaction model. Turbine announced that their revenue has doubled since switching LOTRO from P2P to F2P. Its a really effective way if you get a decent sized player base.



I've gone from 1-4 in ranked, to 5-4. I just need to play a role that I can use to carry. Had an 18/2/8 Ez game, which has made me view when I choose to surrender differently. We were down early, top was being destroyed, mid wasn't doing much, and the jungler was feeding. I wanted to surrender, but the opposing team kept handing me kills, they had bad positioning and I just started snowballing. Comebacks don't always happen, but I think I'll wait a little longer to surrender from now on.

All these people are playing Ez now because they announced PFE, and a lot of them are horrible. Stupid builds and they just don't do well, can't trade, get no kills, are outfarmed and can't help us late game. Its going to be really bad when they actually release PFE...

Yeah, throw in a good cgi vid and tweens will lick it up. Gotta admit it does look good though. Not going to put money in skins though, except if they come up with something better for Kog'maw. That Lion Dance skin is just a little too costly for my liking.

I've been waiting on PFE for so many months now, and my oldest main (who I made my account's name for) was Ezreal so it's fun to see him be so popular again. That being said He has changed drastically from the time I loved maining him (healing damage dealer) but he's still pretty fun to poke/kite/snipe people with. I picked him up for a few games to see if I could still use him and aside from 1 really bad game where my lane partner was baiting me/feeding I've still got the touch

Wow. Apparently there was a stealth nerf to Xerath (because that's what he needed). His ult now has a channel time before you can use it. Basically puts him into the worthless tier because his ult was really his saving grace right now.

I'm guessing this is a bug and not intended.

Everything was working until about 2 hours ago, servers are in the crapper again now; can't login/can't reconnect if you were in before the service went down. The whole website is down as well. I'm in the client, but I have no connection to the servers, can't do anything. And since the website is down, no updates from anybody on what's happening.

Yeah, I think Phreak said that the Xerath ult changes were not an intended consequence, I believe he said they wanted to sync the casting animation to the effects, but had some unintended results.

EDIT: Apparently its a hardware issue they're having, according to an employee's Twitter.

Wow, the last couple of weeks have been a nightmare in terms of server crashes and shut downs eh? But i don't mind cos the game is awesome and let them take their time and fix it rather than letting it go downhill.

Yeah, more issues then usual, not too big of a deal though, stuff happens. I just go play a different game.

I do wonder why the PBE didn't have these problems though. Riot is probably not running all their code through the PBE first, they're making changes but they aren't testing them before moving them onto the official client. That would be guess, can't see why they wouldn't have these problems on the PBE first otherwise. Unless the PBE client/server is running some modified code and therefore reacts differently then the official client.

BTW how do you tackle people who shout out KS when you are trying to save them?? I got so pissed off at a certain Caitlyn last night that i retreated to base and refused to play till the team asked me to. Very snobbish and negative from my end, but it just felt so bad. To getting accused to KS when all you were trying to do is save that person.
Can u mute someone on chat btw?

After saying "You'd have died, wasn't worth the risk, quit being obsessed with your score." I just don't respond to people who complain about KS when there was a good chance they'd have died without intervention. You can mute people, I think the syntax is: /ignore "player_name", you can also use /mute to block chat from everyone.

Only the worst kind of players gripe about KS - the ones only worried about the KDA. Tell them the game is about knocking down the tower/nexus and kills are just a means to an end. Of course, this will be lost on the 14 year old child you're likely conversing with.

At some point though, you do want to make sure that if you're in the jungle, support, or top role that you try and give your AD/AP carries as many of the kills as possible. Especially if it's someone on a kill streak. That extra gold will be more impactful to the game if they get it.
