New champ looks OP as hell.

That was my thought but that's how champion spotlights work. I'm sure they also want AD melee carries to actually be viable, that said his biggest problem like any other carry is going to be CC.

A nice combination of an AS version of Karma's old passive combined with an Anivia Egg!

Add in passive healing for lane sustain, a gap closer +CC which can also be used for a escape and long range poke for more difficult lanes or just pushing and you have a guy that has a complete kit.

To better lay out my thoughts on the new champ, I think he looks like he'll be a monster in a 1v1 lane. I really doubt he does anything but get focused down in teamfights.

I love the Wit's end rework. Adding MR Penetration is just huge for a once popular item which fell off a bit in S3. Also on-hit/AP teemo is just easy to play.

Can someone recommend some AP champs for me to try? My current champ stable is getting very AD heavy. I'm only playing 1 AP champ. I'm looking for the non-traditional casters.. ie. instead of Kassadin, I'm looking for Nidalee type champs.

I love skillshot champs. My favorites are Ez, Ashe, Anivia ect. I find those types of champs maximize my skill level.. when I play roaming champs I tend to not be able to contribute as much (because my carries suck). I'm mainly thinking about Nid or Gragas.. but haven't played Gragas for a long time.

Just read patch notes. Riot is really ...wow. Bad patch.

Removed the loading status bar and replaced it with spell icons? Really? They've really lost their minds. So now when every other game someone crashes, you won't know until they just never show up to their lane. Because someone who feeds, afk's or SIMPLY ISN"T IN THE DAMN GAME because they are lagging isn't going to cause toxicity to begin with. There are some real brains at work there.

Yeah it would be nice if they'd at least add in an icon or something for being connected or loading.

Ok so I just tested it, and they still have the percentage so that works. The way they talked sounded like they were removing all aspects of it...still..what they did makes 0 sense at this point.

They want people to be able to show off their icons I think. It will make them more desirable when they do "buy x to get y icon" stuff. There wasn't room for the load bars, so they went. I don't really care, the number does the same thing so the bars were redundant.

I 100% agree with removing the pings and shit. That was information to be exploited that no one needs to see.

They can't nerf anyone until they milk the sales out of the champ. Must be money being earned off him at the moment.

The new loading screen is kind of hokey. Having the summoners icon there is really strange. I guess its a nice addition to game that survives off donations. You can show off whatever you have.

Though they're worried about pings causing issues among players, but they have gold/silver borders for your ranked tier. If that's what those even mean.
Don't abuse the guy with the shitty connection, but abuse the non-ranked!

Hello ladies & gentlemen, I hail from Dota 2.

LoL is the #1 MOBA game in the world currently, and that's awesome. As a Dota 2 player, this intrigues me and I have few questions for you guys:

1. What is the typical concurrent players in LoL daily? Dota 2 is about 300-350k concurrent & 3 million monthly user base. And it's about to explode because the beta just got finished with open access to everyone now. I heard Riot is somewhat non-transparent with these stats, is it true?

2. What is the biggest tournament of LoL and what is the highest prize pool? Dota's biggest annual tournament by Valve is currently $2.5 mil USD over 5 days. Then typical third-party tourneys range from $10-50k.

3. What's the pro scene of LoL like? Could you name and rank some top teams? I hear Koreans are utterly dominating. Is is as bad as Koreans did with Starcraft? Foreign teams are a rare sight in SC. Currently in Dota 2, the Chinese dominate. But you got some very strong Western teams as well. I'd say the skill and domination distribution is about 60% Chinese & 40% Western. Valve just started expanding Dota 2 to Korea. I can't wait to see how Koreans perform. Will the Korean wave take over and sweep them all? Or will we see a nice love triangle between Korea, China & West? (sorry for rambling)

Thanks guys. That being said, feel free to stop by our thread and say hello. As I've mentioned, the Dota 2's beta is over and anyone can download and try for free! Unlike LoL, Dota 2 doesn't limit hero pool or abilities. Right from your first game, you are on an 100% even playing field as the veterans. Also the game is enjoying some amazing balance with razor sharp tweaking. The pro scene has amazing competitive pick diversity and range than ever in the history of Dota 1 & 2.

Check it out! I know AT is better than the typical LoL vs Dota fanboys. You can even play both!

2. Riot runs their own league, LCS, their world championships are coming up in Oct, prize pool was 1 mil USD I believe? Not sure. players are also paid a salary during the season.

3. Scene is pretty diverse, I don't think the korean teams are considered to be quite as dominant as they previously were but I don't really follow it as much as I used to. Even in SC2 it's not as strong as it once was.

DoTA 2 and LoL are very different beasts, prepare to take some time to learn each one if you wish to be successful in either.

I started running through the DOTA tutorials the other day, but I doubt I make too much of an effort to play it, simply due to all the invested time in learning LOL. Really the community is the only thing I hate about LOL and I already know it's not any better over in DOTA just from everything I've read on the net.

I also find it difficult to keep track of the champions vs the minions in that game for some reason..everything is just too...similar. Probably something that you get used to over time though.

Hmm, I somehow beg to differ. The DOTA community is slightly, very slightly better than the LOL community. I read it somewhere that the huge mana requirements in the early levels and the fact that you have to micromanage almost 30% of the chars in DOTA2, puts off most people and they tend to leave. Only the serious ones remain. And most of the people i've met on DOTA, are not as inflammable as those in LOL.
I just quit playing both these games since it takes up 90% of my gaming time leaving me with only a few minutes to play other games which is kinda sad considering the amount of good titles out there. But the addict's itch has just begun and I'm sure i'll be back pretty soon.

Riot LCS is split into NA and EU. both consistently pull 100 - 150K concurrent viewers when matches are going.

Certain LoL players regularly pull 20K+ concurrent viewers while streaming.

There is no LCS in Korea but Korean media (OGN) run their own tournament. LoL has replaced BW as the big e-sports game in Korea. unlike BW which was free admissions to attend final events, I believe the latest LoL final in Korea had some entry fee for spectator attendance.

some random images of Korean LoL sizes

I don't know how Koreans will perform in DotA 2. LoL is HUGE in Korea. I think Valve might have taken too long to make DotA 2 open to the public and is too late in trying to break the foothold that LoL has established in Korea. So I don't know the kind of resources that Korean DotA 2 teams will receive in terms of building a training environment and how big the Korean player base will be that will play at a competitive level in DotA 2.

3. What's the pro scene of LoL like? Could you name and rank some top teams? I hear Koreans are utterly dominating. Is is as bad as Koreans did with Starcraft? Foreign teams are a rare sight in SC.

Koreans are dominating LoL. they have a different approach and style of play than the NA & EU teams. don't get to see how the Korean teams play the NA or EU teams that often because Riot has split the regions due to the LCS, but the difference in skill & decision making is apparent.

There will be a World Championships where top teams from Korea, NA, EU, and Oceanic will play against each other. It will be held in Staples Center.

Riot was also able to get the United States to consider LoL a sport (same status as MLB, NFL, NBA) for visa purposes recently.

So they totally isolated east and west for LoL pro scene? Well that's not as exciting. But then, LoL is so big that they need to separate by region probably. But then AGAIN, the idea of having a massive global tournament is always cool.

One of the best part about Dota 2 is when east & west clash together. Valve currently flies out the top best 12 teams to Seattle (their HQ). I forgot to mention SE Asia's presence. They're quite solid. So you got 12 teams all over from China, Europe, US, and SE Asia all in Seattle.

And they duke it out. Also they get to mingle socially which is kind of awesome. Here's the photo stream.

I disagree. The games don't have to be mutually exclusive. There's always demand for games and spectating. People watch same talent shows like American Idol, X-Factor, Voice, etc. year-round. Or multiple shows of same genre (CSI, L&O, etc). Same goes for sports. LoL's amazing foothold in Korea isn't the biggest challenge imo. It's more about how Dota 2 markets and reaches the audience wisely.

Valve has partnered with Nexon & GomTV of Korea to expand officially now. Also with Perfect World of China- their biggest publisher. At any rate, it's exciting times for us audience folks- Dota or LoL lovers (why not both?).

I'm guessing for a few hardcore MOBA players, that might be alright, but really, there is so much to learn and master in one, and switching back and forth between the 2 isn't 1 to 1. Everything I've read says that is one of the biggest challenges even for pros. I imagine there will be a large number of LOL players that migrate to DOTA2 now that it's out, but I can't see very many serious players playing both of them at the same time unless that's ALL they do, but that's just me. (Or maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are suggesting)

I meant viewers and us average people enjoying, playing, & watching either one or both.

For pros, they can't play both competitively. Just not viable. But I can see sponsors having 2 separate teams for each Dota 2 and LoL- EG has SC team, Dota team, and CS team... and what do you know, I just googled that they have a LoL team.

But I heard Riot has an iron grip on their teams with questionable exclusivity contracts that prevent anyone playing LoL to participate in any other games (I don't see Valve doing this, maybe Nexon & GomTV).

At any rate, it's exciting times for both us and pros!

At the end of each season, LoL is currently in season 2, there is a world championship in SoCal that teams that win qualifiers attend. This year's will be at the Staples Center in LA. I know there were over 500,000 viewers on the Twitch channel with large numbers on the other services, I think I heard something like 8 mil total. There are also occasional show match type events where top teams from each scene play each other. The scene is too big for that to be a more regular occurrence.

They are pretty different beasts. Have fun now that Dota 2 is out, as a former Dota 1 player it took long enough haha. There are plenty of Moba fans for both.

Edited out stupid info. I spaced when I wrote this.

Uh, Taipai Assassins won the world championships last year. That's why they have the TPA skins. Unless you're talking about OGN then I think one of the old Azubu teams won (they went to CJ Entus I think)
