That jumping was amusing. I can see bunny hoppers getting railed constantly.

You're forgetting this is a console. You can't aim with a joystick.

This looks sooooo lame... This thing has like 60 degree fov. I have mine typically set to 120 just to see better, but then again, I don't play nor own console.

Halo sucks!!
(am I too late?)
Ha! No, seriously.. the games really do suck.
*sigh* PC FPS experience on a console. Now nobody else come in and bash, mmmkay?
And yeah, they really need to make the movement speed higher. Although, it looks like the crazy reticule magnetism has been seriously toned down
Oh, and the shotgun + melee are way, way, wayyy too weak. Why does bungie suck so hard at making things balanced post-Halo 1?
using an xbox controller isnt a PC FPS experience
I mean that in the way that Halo plays a lot like PC FPSes...just the feel of it. Compare Timesplitters (or some other random console FPS) and you'll see what I mean. Halo (1) feels like a PC game, for the most part.

I'd have to say the people crying about Halo -> Halo 2 don't really know what loss is. It really was nothing like moving across Tribes games because the physics at least were mostly the same. The only thing they really changed was the weapon system and all vehicles could be destroyed. Although there really wasn't as much of an excuse because the game was being developed for the same hardware and thus I believed fans wanted more of an extension of gameplay more so than a significant alteration.

Looks like Halo 2 with marginally improved graphics. Anyone remeber the trailer at e3? Looks nothing like it. The shield grenade is the Halo version of the Backlash from Resistance.

Is that really all you think they changed from Halo to Halo 2?
If so let me know, I could write an essay about how much Halo 2 changed from Halo.

I own both games, from my experience playing both the way the gameplay was changed revolves around exactly what I mentioned. For the most part the experiences are very similar. Halo 2 still feels very much like Halo when it comes to controlling yourself through the environment, the changes mostly brought about changes in tactics but not a fundamental change in the way you actually play the game (ie going from UT to CS).

Heh wow, then you just must not have played it much at all.
- Halo 2 movement is a lot slower than Halo.
- There is much more auto aim in Halo 2
- There is a lot more "sticky" aim in Halo 2
- The weapon respawns are based off of who has what weapons and when they end, whereas in Halo it was solely based on timing.
- No fall damage in Halo 2
- No health in Halo 2
- In team games, your spawning depends on your enemies locations whereas in Halo 1 it depended on your teammates position
- Halo 2 added a huge lunge to the melee attack
- Starting with a duel wieldable weapon in halo 2 ruined the gameplay big time (even bungie realizes this and no longer spawns you with DW weapons in H3).
- Much larger hit boxes for the head in Halo 2.
I could go on and on but I will not

A. most of your points revolved around the weapon system I mentioned (how you kill sh1t)
B. many of your points are multiplayer exclusive whereas I was considering the game as a whole if not outright focusing on singleplayer.
Perhaps I incorrectly assumed the fellow tribes player I was responding to with my original post wouldn't actually be concerned with multiplayer, seeing how the difference between the two is like training wheels on a 1 speed bicycle vs. a fighter jet - I know I could never get into it.

I completely agree. I'll be upset if they ever release a keyboard and mouse for use in a FPS on a console.Originally posted by: purbeast0

When will PC gamers stop crying about how hard it is to use a controller for an FPS on a console?
And I don't think "most" people want a keyboard/mouse adapter for the console. Only people who are big on FPS on PC want one. The Xbox is what has made FPS on console one of the leading genres on console now a days, and the controls are just fine. You just have to learn how to use it, and even when you do, it will never be as precise as a keyboard/mouse.
But most people don't want a keyboard/mouse in their living room setup with their console. Keyboard/mouse takes away from the simplicity of a console, which is one of the key points behind the whole idea of a console.

Why is everyone ragging on the game already? It's still 6 months out. Plus, anything you don't like about that video is exactly the reason they are having the beta next month. Get into the beta, and voice what you don't like.....I'm sure everything will be taken into consideration.

because this forum is full of geeks who have $3K computers, and they feel they have to justify their $3K spent by putting down a game that is going to sell like hot cakes on a console that is only $400 but won't be on their $3K machines. They also have to justify it by saying it doesn't look as good as Unreal 2007 will look on a $3K PC, and say that a mouse/keyboard is the ONLY way to play an FPS and playing an FPS with a console is stupid, but in reality it's just too tough for them to learn.
