Leap to Athlon 64

I currently have:
Asus a7n8x Deluxe with Athlon XP 2600

planning on getting:
ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 with Athlon 64 3000+ Venice

Is there a significant speed difference?
I would like to hear personal opinions on my $200 upgrade

If you have a nice videocard already and you are CPU limited, it should give you a good boost.

It's a little tougher to fine a comparison at AT. I'm still looking... I found:

3200+ XP vs 3000+ A64

Heh, a lot of these are worthless due to hitting some barrier (GPU limited?) but here's some more

If you have 512mb of ram, upgrading to a gig would be a good idea if you can swing that too.

This is almost exactly my situation. did you do the upgrade? how did it go?

I just went from a 3200+ xp to 3200+ A64 coz I broke my motherboard. It does seem slightly faster alright but not exactly jaw dropping.
