In August of 2006 I signed a one year lease that has long since ran out. This lease agreement did not contain any clauses about moving out penalties.
Currently I am still residing at the place paying month to month, there were no clauses for this situation in the lease and no other agreements other than a verbal one was made to "let the landlord know ahead of time" of my intentions to leave.
The deposit, was used as payment for the last month of the lease. The place is paid for until the 31st of January. I currently do not owe the landlord anything and vice versa.
What am I looking at in terms of my obligations of letting the landlord know about my intentions of moving out?
I'm just trying to gauge my move out date planning and I have let the landlord know of my intentions but he has not given me a concrete answer as of yet.
I am aware of the "30 day notice" but this is a situation where one party is being indecisive and no physical contracts bind us to each other.
edit: Solved issue.. According to Ontario laws I have to give 60 days notice even paying month to month. Thanks Farang
