Leased a new 2014 Corolla S plus with a dent.

It only shows on Carfax if it's reported. Heck, I had a $2500 repair done to my CR-Z due to flying debris. It never showed up on Carfax.

If neither law enforcement nor insurance is involved, there is practically no way Carfax will get wind of it, especially since the dealer has no incentive for them to know.

The repair will become visible 5-10 years down the road if a lesser quality clear coat was utilized, but other than that, it's no big deal. That area is not generally subject to rock chips or corrosion, so I would say even a conventionally performed repair should be pretty safe.

I wouldn't have signed anything for a car with a dent. They'll promise the world to get you to sign. Executing well on it is another matter. Either way I wouldn't want a dented brand new car. Lease or purchase.

any idea on how the dent/damage was done? Was it hit with something? I would refuse the car and choose another without a dent.

I would have had them document it and then just lived with it.

I would have had them document it, made them reduce the end of lease buyout price by 3-4k, then lived with it knowing the deal was that much better.

To Silicon. They mentioned the damage could have happened during transportation from manufacturer or on the lot. But there is no scratch so nothing sharp hit it.

To Belegost, the dent is documented and we agreed depending on the outcome of the repair, I'll either get another car or get a discount. Since my credit history (am only 10 months in USA) does not qualify for the lease offer I got (all other dealers gave me best deal that is 1500$ more for two years lease), I went with it.

Was it this forum where the guy had a similar issue with his girlfriend's G35? They took the car in and got it back with some damage to the dash. Took the car back in to have the dash repaired and when they got the car back the inside was filled with fuzz and everyone said the airbag had deployed?

There ever a resolution to that thread?

The dealer service manager called. Car ready for pickup. He mentioned it is in great shape and passed Toyota inspection standards (whatever this mean). I will pass tommorow morning to inspect it and pick it up if all is good. I asked the guy about a written explanation on the work done by the body shop and a warranty on that work by the dealer or the shop. He mentioned all the work they do before delivery is included in the Toyota 12000 miles bumper to bumper warranty. I was expecting a separate warranty to the body work and especially extended warranty on any painting (at least two years) as this is the norm in California as I hear. What is your input on that?

No harming in asking for extra, but I doubt they'll go for it.

I got this car today, it looks perfect I examined it in all ways. I could not tell where the dent was. As far as the car itself, I liked so far. It is a Sport plus series, with automatic and manual shifting. Just before I got it I drove nissan versa, Sentra 2014 and Elantra 2014. All on highway above 75 Mph you feel the the road and shaking. With the Corolla S plus, I am at 80 Mph and I do not feel my speed.
