Who besides Tom Cruise could have done Top Gun?

I don't care what anyone says, Tom Cruise has been awesome in most os the movies he's been in. Sure he's been crappy in some but his movies are mostly fun action flicks.

Yeah I don't really get the Tom cruise hate. He's been decent in a lot of things. I liked him in The Firm, Magnolia, and heck I'm probably one of the few that actually liked Vanilla Sky.

He is note perfect in Rain Man.

Kick Ass was decent, but Nick had nothing to do with that.

I actually thought his Adam West -esq dialogue was an excellent touch in the movie, especially if you know the character's ending in the comic. It actually makes a ton of sense.

Orlando Bloom is miscast in like 99% of the roles he's filled.

I just can't stand his acting, he's more annoying than the kid in Terminator 2.
Also, he seems like much too much of a wuss for that part.

it's quite obvious when you see him and PSH in the same scene. The ugly pudgy dude completely destroys him. Cruise is a hack.

I disagree on Tom Cruise solely because of his brilliance in Magnolia.

As for Nicolas Cage, he does great movies when he cares, and dreck when he just needs a quick paycheck.

edit: I see from your next post you disagree on Magnolia; perhaps I like his role because he plays a shallow prick so convincingly...

i really, really hate nicolas cage...which is why i loved kick ass: he died. i pretty much think hes a terrible actor and find most of his stuff pretty cringe-worthy

After just re-watching Aliens I think Paul Reiser was a horrible freaking choice for that film. I remember diliking him the first time around, but he looks way out of place watching it now. Just adds to the dated feeling of the film.
