May be a silly question, but am bored, so whatever. Any other web browsers which I should seriously consider using rather than IE? I have tried Netscape, didn't like it, what's this Mozilla?

Mozilla is the unbloated version of Netscape 6.x.

Opera isn't exactly lightweight either, it takes 100+ MB RAM after half a day on my systems, which is much, much worse than Mozilla.

Perhaps K-Meleon would interest you?

the enigma browser i think is smaller
than k-meleon. couldn't find the stats on the enigma to confirm. this
page touts it as the smallest
web browser, but the story may be old depending on when k-meleon was
developed.

Face it, it is hard getting away from IE....one of the main reasons i hate using a linux machine to browse websites...but i think opera now supports linux. Plus, IE isn't all that bad, it is fast and clean.

I haven't used IE since I discovered NS 4.7.

Opera has been available for *NIX for a long, long time.

Fast on Windows because it's so tightly integrated in the OS.

That, the proprietary stuff implemented in IE, its lousy bookmarking system and its lack of functionality make that IE looks everything but appealing to me.

I don't find Konqueror that bad. It's not IE, but it's a suitable alternative.

No problems with IE for me. Not too slow at all. It's probably the best MS product out there

K-Meleon is actualy based off of Mozilla.

It uses Mozilla's Gecko HTML rendering engine and removes all the bloat.

This is what's great about Mozilla. The code is Open Source and highly portable across platforms, so once Mozilla hits 1.0, you will see developers building tons and tons of apps based on Gecko and XUL and other Mozilla technologies.

Mozilla will be everywhere!

If Opera is using too much memory you can go to File-Preferences-History and Cache and disable Auto RAM cache

Thanks! I must have missed that option

It doesn't really matter on my systems, though, because they all have sufficient RAM, but it made me wonder whether something was wrong with Opera. Clearly it was a user fault

Like it was already said, Links or Lynx is the king of lightweight web-browsers . When it comes to graphical browsers, I use Mozilla and Konqueror in Linux (mostly Konqueror) and Opera in Win.
