That's a great price. Even the previous $30 was a good deal compared to typical street prices and certainly to MSRP, so another $10 off is indeed pretty "hot"...

But the real reason for my post is to ask if anyone knows if Home Depot does "post" purchase price-matching (or whatever that's called)? I bought several of these before Christmas at the $30 "special buy" price. Gave 2 as Xmas gifts, but still have 2 in the package (one is a likely birthday present for someone in a couple of months, the other was intended for me, but hasn't been opened yet.) I's still within 90 days of the purchase (I have the receipt.) I looked at the website/FAQs but didn't see anything obvious... I'm going to keep them either way, but obviously it'd be nice to get back the $20! (PS: They are out of stock but they're still listing the price as valid on an "as available" basis at brick & mortar stores.)

Most retailers will allow a price correction if the item is still within the return period (60 - 90 days for major retailers, usually)

Grab the items and receipt(s) and go talk to their customer service.

Yup....worst they can say, is NO. :\

Bought two of these today, for presents. My local HD was still showing them as $29.88 on the shelf, but I approached the girl at the customer service desk, and showed her my printout of the HD.com website page, showing $20, and she price matched without any problem.

If they say no, tell them you'd like to return them for refund, and that you'd like to immediately repurchase them at the current price. Make them do more work that way it will help them see the light that they should just stop being dumb and price match.

Used to love leathermen, but then swapped to gerber for the better plier action. Both are good "just in case" tools to have on you.

Yep, I plan to, I was just wondering if they had a formal policy or if anyone had actually done it themself...

I'm just hoping not to have to deal with that sort of scenario. I have done that before at other stores, but returns and purchases are done at separate areas at Home Depot, so I'd have to make sure the returns cashier would actually hand them (back) over to me to go-rebuy them at checkout rather than being a-hole-ish and insisting on throwing them in the bin for official restocking... (The way the occasional employee at huge chains like Home Depot takes things like this as some sort of "personal affront" never ceases to amaze me, but it does happen from time to time. People can be so weird.)

The Gerber pliers are better? Hmm... How do the other tools and overall construction compare? About a week ago, I actually returned a full-size Gerber EVO that I'd also bought before Christmas, but I didn't open that package either, so didn't get the chance to check it out myself. (And somewhat oddly, I no longer see it listed on their website, just the mini ones on clearance that no store around here seems to have in stock despite the inventories on the website still showing it as allegedly available.) It was the same price the Skeletool is now on sale for ($20) but at the time, I figured if I were going to end up keeping one for myself, I might as well "splurge" on the the Leatherman... But this is the first I'm hearing about the pliers, which I expect I'd end up using at least as much as all the other tools combined... The Leatherman does seem to have the added flexibility of being able to take a range of hex nut attachments, but realistically, I'm not sure how much I'd use a multitool for that purpose anyway...

I have a leatherman wave, and I think their pliers are fine. (Or rather, I can't think of how they could be improved). The only multitool I truly hated was buck's. Which sucks, because I love their knives otherwise.

Turned out that they didn't do more than briefly bat an eyelash, by which I mean only that the returns cashier wasn't sure what their policy was and called someone to check. Somewhat oddly, it seems they don't have a formal policy in the sense of having a programmed transaction in their POS system for "refunding price differences" as such, but at their own suggestion, they did just refund the original purchases and then ring them up again at the sale price. Indeed, they did it for all four of the ones I originally bought (without my having to ask), even though I only had two of them with me. I'm not sure what would've happened if I hadn't had any of them with me unopened, but as it was the cashier only saw/used one of them, to scan the UPC on the package (though she did specifically ask me if it was unopened as I was reaching into my backpack for it)...

Shows as $45.35 /each for me.
Yeah, for me too, now (and the price shown is even higher than the "regular" price was when I bought it, even though it was displayed (in-store anyway) as a "special buy" rather than a "discounted price" at the time.) Curiously, there's no in-store SKU shown for it now, either, though I have no idea what that means exactly. Well, that sucks. This is what the product page looked like as of last night (extracted from the PDF I created to save to my Kindle to show them at the store):

Glad I decided to make the effort to get to there last night to ask for my price-reduction refund. I'd have been seriously pissed off if I'd waited until today and discovered this only when I got to the store and they scanned it, which is how it would've played out...
