I leave both of my systems on 24/7, since I run Folding@Home for Team Anandtech. Plus, since the systems are not in my room, the fan noise doesn't bother me.
<< What do you guys think about Standby/Hibernate features? >>
I use the standby features of my monitors, but I never use hibernate unless I need to move the computer, and set it up quickly somewhere else (a rare occurance, though).
my comp is always on because it's a SETI cruncher (see signature) - join a Team Anandtech Distributing Team!!! we need your help in boosting Team Anandtech's ranks!
Seeing as I pay a huge amount to stay at the dorm, I live my comp on 24/7. It is just easier for me, and I don't have to pay anymore for the electricity used. I guess next year in my apartment i'm gonna have to look into the hibernate feature. As for the spaceheater comment, the pc is hardly a space heater as compared to the monitor.
On all day. OFF all night. Already high enough power bill w/ 3 fish tanks and a water bed. Good thread though I was curious if leaving it on all the time would effect the computer.
I leave my main box online all the time. I figure the cancer thing is a good cause. However the 6 way box only gets turned on when I need it. That thing sucks so much juice its not even funny. There are like 3 350 or 450 (i forget the exact voltage) power supplies on the sucker. Not to mention it is super loud. It is not the annoying loud of a delta, just multiple HUGE fans inside....
I crunch ECCp for TeAm Anandtech on all three of my rigs 24/7 and I wish you would come help us because we're starting to get our collective butts kicked by other teams If you want to help out the site that has given you this great forum and your not active in the DC forum stop by and check us out We're here
