my setup is ok now but i have a bright led case fan in it and i have a desk fan . i'm wondering if taking the side off the case is better? is this something that is safe to do? the side that would be off would be by the wall ( not able to be open to stuff touching it).. is the cooling possibly better this way? sorry i'm kind of new

Removing the side makes the case fans obsolite. You would have to have a fan blowing directly into the case from teh opened side in order to maintain good temps. If you find that temps are better with the side off and no outside fan then you are not getting adiquate airflow threw the case and need to evaluate size, placement, and power of the fans used in the case.

I have the side of my case off, but it's not on purpose. I took it off to hook something up temprorarily and never got around to putting it back on... With no side panel, the airflow from and/or to the fans becomes randomized and less effective, besides making more dust available to the inside of your computer. I'd say to get a pair of fans (front/rear) that are adequate to tune the case airflow properly with the door on. Not knowing which case you are using makes it difficult to make a reasonable suggestion as to what fan(s) might be adequate.

it's an hp elite case.. i think the case fan size should be 80.. i hooked a 120 into it lol, only asking because the blue led in it would light up the wall in my comp room =O
