This past season is the reason that people lost respect for him because of his antics. In his defense, him not winning a ring @ CLE was because of the other players. He literally had no help over there. Even Antawn Jamison hardly helped him at all.

lol no help? cle had the best record, if he tried and didn't check out, they would have got past boston.

Maybe LeBron James should try the NHL. They only have three periods.

What's the difference between a dollar and LeBron James? A dollar gets you four quarters.

ATOT discussing the something that is extremely hated and the thread blowing up?

CALL ME SHOCKED!!!

QueBert actually hit it on the head ... LBJ is screwed regardless. even if he wins people will hate on him so hard because "he couldnt do it on his own" when in reality, the way the NBA is now a days, NO team can win with only 1 star on the team, and he had absolutely no help in cleveland.

i didn't give a shit who won the finals because I had no stake in either team, but I was hoping Miami would win because I wanted to see what all of the haters would have come up with to hate on Lebron if he won. I mean him getting hated on now that they lost, that was painfully obvious what would be said. but i was extremely curious to see the reactions of the haters if he had won a ring...

Seeing this video made me strengthened something for me. Lebron is nowhere near and never will be close to Jordan.

I also noticed, Jordan may have been known for his dunks, but it's his layups that were even more "amazing".

Listening to the local radio when the Bulls were celebrating their 20th anniversary of their first championship gave me a whole new level of respect for Jordan. They had a ton of his former teammates on talking about him. They all basically said that Jordan's work ethic was insane in practice. Many of the players HATED practice with Jordan because he pushed the entire time beyond their limits. They were relieved when games came around because they could take out all their fury on the other people instead of their teammates.

I can't remember who said it, but Jordan told one of his teammates that he regrets the dunks and flashy moves because he feels it ruined the game. He made it the focal point when Jordan believes that what made him as successful as he was is the defense he played and his work off of the ball and off the court.

It is a work ethic and overall attitude I don't think Lebron will ever get.

Has Lebron ever said he was as good as or better than Jordan? No.
Why does everyone keep cutting him down as if he is declaring himself a Jordan superior?

He made it to the Finals with a brand new team, in their first year together.
That is a pretty awesome achievement. The Decision was still a great one.
Cleveland sucks, as shown by their record this year.

Skill-wise, he was very much ready to enter the NBA. But I think it's pretty clear now that he could have used some years to grow the fuck up, and get some real coaching.

Completely agree......he was, skill-wise, someone who could have been considered one of the best when he entered the NBA from high school.

But he lacked, and still lacks, discipline---among other things---that a year or two being properly coached would, or could, have "fixed".

Now, though, I almost think that after 8 years in the NBA, he's probably all but uncoachable, at least as far as developing into the "go-to" guy who will get to the basket at any cost.

LB has become what he wants....a facilitator, a passer. He's even said as much in interviews that's what he sees himself as. I don't think he really likes getting hacked, bumped, hit as he goes to the basket in critical situations in high pressure games like in the Finals.

it's cause with the internet around now everyone LOVES to talk shit and hate while being annonymous. for some reason it makes people feel awesome about themselves when they hate on people and they are correct, especially when it's people who are much more successful than they are.

ATOT kind of magnifies this trend in general. pretty much every thread about somebody successful falling down blows up. but then you have someone like charlie sheen who while is successful as shit financially he is pretty much a loser in the eyes of humanity, but then ATOT praises him.

Is the NBA dissolving or something after this years finals? Don't the Heat have these guys locked up for the next 5 years or so? Aren't the "big 3" relatively young? Didn't they make it to the finals the first year together when a lot of people said they wouldn't even make the playoffs after that 9-8 start? Weren't most of the finals games pretty close and could have gone either way? You guys act like they will never have a chance to win a championship (or multiple championships in the coming years). I'm not going to take anything away from the Mavs and Dirk, they were great and deserved to win. But everyone is celebrating and cracking jokes like LeBron and company won't be back next year more determined than ever.

They were close this year, and obviously didn't get it, they lost to a team that simply played better and made the shots when they counted the most. But as one of the few "real" fans of the Miami Heat, I'm happy those guys play on my team. It's great to be able to enjoy a team that wins a lot and can compete for the championship every year (most people go a lifetime without seeing one of their favorite teams even have the chance to play for a championship, let alone win one). I understand a lot of the hate towards LeBron and the Heat because of their cockiness and attitudes, but don't most professional athletes have poor attitudes and huge egos? They just aren't under the same microscope and constant scrutiny that LeBron is under. He brought a lot of the criticism on himself, but he doesn't deserve all of the hate he receives. He didn't rape anyone like Kobe or Big Ben, he didn't murder someone like Ray Lewis, kill dogs like Vick, or snort coke off of a hookers ass hole like Michael Irvin (ok I made that last part up, I think?), but they aren't disliked as much some guy named LeBron who has a huge ego (probably just as big as those guys mentioned above), had an ill-advised one hour special to announce his intentions, and simply left a team as a free agent.

Some of these articles and jokes are obviously going to get back to LeBron and his teammates and fuel their fire for next year. Look at the Mavs and the motivation they got from LeBron/Wades "coughing joke" (which was absolutely in poor taste in my opinion). Coughing isn't nearly as bad as some of the articles and comments from other players regarding LeBron. He and his teammates are going to hear about some of these articles, comments, jokes, etc... and remember them. But of course jokes and proving people wrong shouldn't be your main motivation to win a championship, it should be about the desire to win and for the love of the game like the Mavs exhibited this year. I don't think LeBron and the Heat are going anywhere, the chapter maybe be closed on this year, but there's a lot of the story yet to be written. The next few years will be very exciting for the Heat and the rest of the NBA, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Go Heat!

You said it well Arik, and purbeast, it's not just AT that is enjoying the current backlash on Lebron. He was overhyped, underdisciplined, and a ton of people were making him out to be the next Jordan. He's a great player, but a Jordan he's not. If he won the next 6 straight championships and got MVP every time .. maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe he'd be worthy of 2nd place behind Jordan.

I expect him to get his ring, or two, or maybe even three. And I'll be happy for the real fans of the game like Arik who have some class and dignity. But I'm enjoying this failure just a bit due to the unwarranted hype he's gotten over the years, and for the bandwagonner fake fans like QueBert who were all up on his nutsack and full of stupid ideas.

I can totally understand people hating the Cowboys at certain times, they got tons of hype, they had a lot of dickhead players amongst their greats (Aikman and Smith for example were pure class, while a majority of them were child-men who gave them all a bad rep), and they just didn't behave as a group like champions should, or even like a team worthy of even grudging respect. The Mavs though, I have absolutely no clue why some people would slam and hate them out of spite. They are class, pure and simple. They are old, this is probably their only championship with this crew, and it may be another 10-20 years before they win the big show, if even then. But they gave it their all and kept it on the court. No hotdogging for the media, no stunts, no hype, just hard work. Even if you're not a fan you have to respect that, if you're mature and a fan of the game instead of just a fan of a few players or one single team.

Lebron's cockiness and bravado is really just a front to hide the fact that he's has the mental toughness of a puppy, not a pit bull. If he can ever get the drive and fire that MJ had to completely lock onto an opponents' throat and not let go, then the jokes will end. If and when that happens, he won't be viewed as a waste of talent.

Joke: Why does Lebron always get excited at the toll booth? Because it's EZ Pass time!

.... or snort coke off of a hookers ass hole like Michael Irvin (ok I made that last part up, I think?).....

Cocain - check
Hooker(s) - check
Snort cocain from hooker(s)' ass hole- ?

Irvin was very famous in big D with his antics (gotta love his dressing up as pimp with big hat, sunglass, and fur coat) and ran ins with the law(note the plural) while he was playing with the Cowboys.

Cleveland fan here, just FYI.

LeBron hasn't personally said he's better than Jordan, no. Everyone else has, constantly. You can't deny that he is extremely arrogant though (hell, I probably would be too, although I'd like to think I wouldn't.)

Making it to the finals is not good. When you put together a superstar team, claim not 1, not 2, not 3, etc. you're expected to win. The Decision was terrible and even LeBron said he'd do it differently.

The same can be said for any other team with multiple stars... Boston, San Antonio, LA, etc.
Why are their failures not as big as Miami's first attempt? Because they have rings?
Miami will too...

And when I said the The Decision was a good one, I meant the actual decision to leave Cleveland... not the way went down.

Some of these articles and jokes are obviously going to get back to LeBron and his teammates and fuel their fire for next year.

I think lots of people wanted to see that fire in the Heat. Terry called him out after Game 3 saying Lebron basically sucked on defense. Even Stevenson called him out. Marion was trash talking. And even through all of that, Lebron didn't get fired up enough. Who else needs to talk about him before he gets fired up?

Instead, he seems to be taking lessons from Robert Henson and getting stopped on the offensive end by JJ Barea. All the talking heads saying he needs to improve his game are correct, both above the neck and his intermediate game.

I honestly do not remember a single pull up jumper from Lebron the entire final series.
