Comparing Zep to AC/DC?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

*gasp

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Don't get me wrong, I love listening to AC/DC but they were never anywhere near the band that Zep was.

As for Pink Floyd vs Zep, I love Floyd (one of my top 5 fav bands), but listening to that cranking bluesy rock of Zep gets me every time.

And actually, I think it would be better to compare Floyd vs Yes. I like more of Floyd's music but there's definately several songs by Yes that I like more than any Floyd song.

I'm going against the collective will of ATOT yet again and going with Zep on this one. I'm just going with the one I listen to more.

the better ATOT matchup would be Rush vs Floyd... two bands that i despise but are hugely popular here.

Zep all the way.

Looking at today's music that's not so huge a loss.

Floyd all the way

And the other 3/4 wouldn't be here if it weren't for the Beatles.

Seen both a few times, both also personal favs. Not really comparable IMHO. Zep has a wider range of musical style, Floyd undeniably produced the better psychedelic sound with a far superior technical edge. Nothing compares to the overall sensory experience of Floyd in concert. Zep was the forerunner and creator of the heavy metal sound.

BTW, if your knowlegde of them is limited to comparing Stairway and Numb as the best offerings of either of these groups you don't even need to be thinking of comparing them. Do yourself a favor and dig a little deeper into their libraries, then you will understand just how unique and different they really are from one another.

Also seen Rush and The Who along with many other all time classic bands. Fell asleep at AC/DC, even when they lifted two cannons out of the floor and fired volleys into the crowd lol. Being a Cleveland resident I was also fortunate enough to attend the Rock & Roll HOF concert, more legends performed than I can remember. Worked as a DJ and enjoy modern bands of most genres including rap but todays music is crap compared to the past.

The Beatles started out sounding just like every other top 40 band of the 60's, hardly innovative in the beginning. It wasn't until their exposure to the progressive American musical scene did they begin to experiment with their sound.

Oddly enough my long time sig here is the last few lines of one of my favorite Floyd songs.....

Back in the day, Zeppelin would have blown PF out of the water for me, even when though I was a major acid freak for many years. However 30 years later I find I enjoy zoning out to PF more than listening to Zeppelin. I still voted Zep though because back in the day they owned just about everybody.
Strangely enough though, I liked The Who better than both and still do.

I'm noticing a trend. Younger folks are going for Pink Floyd and us more mature, better dressed, impeccably qualified Rock and Roll fans are going for the mighty Led Zeppelin.

im young, but also well dressed, and the rest of what you said... and still prefer Led. I have more of a preference for their classic rock with bluesy stylings, but Pink is a band I still very much enjoy and appreciate.

I think Floyd was a bigger influence on most of the death metal and prog rock that I listen to, so I'll say Floyd, though really both were huge influences.

As for creating, the edge goes to PF- they are really unique. Nobody to this day sounds like them. Their music concept was genius.

LZ just plain rocks. Their style is far from original, but they put it together in a way nobody else did before. Painful as it is, they lose points for not starting from scratch.

Floyd is definitely far more acoustically pleasing than most zep. Audiophiles that don't even care for Floyd still insist on listening to the Dark Side of the Moon album. I also enjoy that unbelievable arrangement but prefer Animals and Meddle over Moon, save for a song or two.

Last time I saw Floyd I was tripping my balls off on pure liquid in Cleveland Muni Stadium with @ 80,000+ other people. For those that ever attended an event there you will vividly remember how the building literally moved and shook. The police were noticably present, and definitely scared lol...

Is this really even a question. Don't get me wrong..they're both great bands, but Pink Floyd is far and away a better band. LZ ripped off a bunch of music and just are not up to snuff with Pink Floyd.
