I was done with the transaction, got my reciept...never heard any beeping or anything. When I called to report it they told me that there was a $100 withdrawal one minute after my withdrawal. Fortunately it was at MY bank and they have the ATMs videotaped, so they can confirm it. As soon as they do I'll get credited. What a dumb-a$$ kid.

Dumbass kid? You are the one that left your ATM card in the slot.

serioulsy, How the hell could you do that~?!!

Haha, yep. The first thing I take is the money, then the receipt, then the card. I don't leave w/o putting the card back in my wallet.
Exactly.

Yea, how could you leave your atm card? Hell, how could you not know you weren't done with your transaction? IIRC, you need a PIN code to access your ATM card right? That kid could not have known your ATM pin number, so apparently you weren't done yet

It's probably not the first time that he's heard that he pulls out too early

Yes, the kid was dumb. If we was smart he would've punched in at least 500.

After it gives you the money it always asks if you'd like to conduct another transaction.

I suppose this was the time in which you choose to walk away.

I guess you took out $200, otherwise he would have been able to take out more because most banks have a $300 daily limit.

i hate those ATM machines that require you to insert your card... that interface design is just asking for people to leave / lose their cards.

Yeah, but they are also quite useful for keeping and shredding up stolen cards or any other type of fradulent action.

the card/account could be locked at the database just as easy as it could be physically confiscated.

Why do some machines let you insert/remove (immediately after) while others keep your card during the entire transaction?

If it lets you take it right back, there's no chance of you losing/forgetting your card, but you may neglect to finish the transaction and the next person can .

If it keeps the card, there's a chance you'll forget it at the end of the transaction, but ensures you'll remember to finish the transaction if you care about getting your card back.

So which is better ?

The Wells Fargo banks around here make you take your card back before getting your money. I don't know why other banks don't do this.

I was going to mention this as well.

It says something like Take your Card to recieve your cash. You take the card, it gives you your cash, you take your receipt, and you're done.

I don't think it even asks if you would like to perform another transaction.

My old dumb ass has left my card in the machine 3 different times and no one has ever gotten any money from it. Once it spits out the card you have to reenter the PIN. Are you sure you didn't hand the money to him?

As others have said, he undoubtedly left it at the "Would you like to perform another transaction?" It was pure luck that the "dumbass kid" arrived before it timed out.
