Does using the legacy power connector instead of the SATA power connector on a SATA drive, a 74G Raptor to be specific, affect the way it operates? If not, why did they bother designing a new power connector?
If they put regular 12V connectors on the drive, then it must serve a purpose right? They wouldn't put it there if you couldn't use it. Rejoice, for you have a choice.
Hi, If you would ring out the two connector's pins with an OhmMeter you would probably find that they are wired together. Probably an attempt to make the drives backward compatible. Should make no difference at all to the operation of the drive. Jim
