I did not say that I just pointing out what is going to happen. Do you not think people will smoke MJ just as much as they smoke cigarettes?
Precisely. They won't.
Will a few people? Sure. Just like a few people smoke 5 packs a day of cigarettes, and drink a fifth of liquor or a case of beer every day.
Abusers as the norm, they are not.
For the average citizen, you will not see people on smoke breaks toking up with MJ. Most employers, I reckon, will keep it banned from the workplace. And most smokers won't see any possible issue with this. Why? Because, unlike nicotine, it's not something that the body physically craves for the speed effect every moment of the day.
A daily MJ smoker can easily go the workshift without feeling one craving to light up. May they sit there and think "damn, work sucks. I'd love a toke right now" ? Possibly, just like many of us would love a beer or two at work, just to take an edge off. Does it impact an individual's performance by refraining from MJ or alcohol for an 8 hour shift? Not at all.
Stop comparing it to tobacco. It seems you wish to compare them simply because they are both smoked. Method of consumption does not make them the same.
A single joint (unless a pinner, but sometimes even then), especially of commonly available marijuana available today, is enough to send most users into a complete stoned phase for awhile.
Just because the stuff is stronger today, with better strains available, doesn't mean everyone will find themselves smoking the same amount of material and being sent into couch-lock mode. Most people who smoke marijuana regulate based on perceived effects, not amount to be consumed. If it's brick shag, they'll have to smoke more to reach whatever their desired state of mind is. If it's a premium strain, they might only take a toke or two and refrain from more.
The abuser does not set the standards. Remember that. Most MJ smokers who want to continue to get some kind of work or chores done, will realize they can't get completely stoned. They'll self-regulate. We all do it with alcohol, why is it such a difficult concept to understand with marijuana? If we know we have to drive, the majority of us limit how much we drink. If we know we have to get some work done at home, we don't get drunk (though we may enjoy a drink or two).
Don't let the stereotype images cloud your mind. That merely speaks of a strong ignorance of the reality. Most people who smoke, you probably do NOT know they do. You probably don't know how many people have had just a little bit and then had a conversation with you or interacted with you.
The ones who are most obvious, the ones who reek of it, the ones who seem so dazed and out of it, they aren't the norm. They are more obvious than the drunks, and the drunks are self-limiting in public due to already having had licenses revoked or simply sticking to the home.
